The problem is if he didn't have half the defense attorneys in Florida and only had her I would agree but seeing as he has multiple defense attorneys he has already tried to file ineffective council and it didn't work! He tried to say they pulled up and Curtis was suppose to work and it scared her and dr sievers started being a bi*ch and Curtis got mad and hit her with a hammer while he (Jimmy) was yelling for him to stop! This woman appears confused, unprepared and is unable to take her eyes from her notes. She reads word for word and should take lessons from the Prosecution on preparation and presentation. Her set- up for future arguements is so obvious. She bobs and jerks and smiles to herself. I have never witnessed such incompetence. I can imagine a juror finding him guilty because of his/her distaste for the woman. Who in the world is paying 4 lawyers?

@patricia carter She's a public defender. On this performance the US taxpayers deserve a collective rebate. Trials are often a drama in themselves and the way attorneys and witnesses conduct themselves can influence jurors' decisions. I doubt Markeith Loyd's attorney did him any favours.

This opening statement is all over the place. No structure or theme at all. She comes across as someone who is reading a pile of notes in random order. here's also the penny-dropping moment when she tells the jury that the crime scene is where the crime took place. Who would have guessed it?

You know when the defence believe its client hasn't a prayer- when the role of the jury and right to a fair trial is explained to the jury in the opening. I think this woman is incompetent. Whatever one may think of the defendant he deserves to be represented by an attorney who knows what she's doing.

Expert witnesses, of course. And how much they make for their testimony is often questioned by the opposing side when the amount is excessive. But outside a per diem for food, lodging, travel, and expenses, and loss wages, I do take issue with testimony from any witness who gets a free house, car, etc out of the deal. People have done far worse than lie for far less, and we're not talking about people who have made great life decisions to begin with.
