I’m watching this video on the day Little Richard died (May 09, 2020) and just awed by how much he thanks God in this video. Constant praise. And it made me realize that while God didn’t give Little Richard everything he wanted, he allowed him to see his music and music from the 1950’s come back around again and become re-appreciated, in a better way than it was when it was new. He outlived so many 1st generation rock and roll singers and never left God. Inspirational. I hope an updated movie is made about his life, reflecting that along with his music.

He was Bible scholar who studied in my hometown, he was studying to be a preacher in Huntsville Alabama. My sister and I "found" his grave which is about 15 miles from my current home. It's in Huntsville Alabama. Beautiful cemetery. We went there as part of my birthday celebration! I love Little Richard's faith and humble last place of rest with the Lord. We "found" his grave and visited two weeks ago. May the souls of the faithful departed enjoy eternal rest Brother Richard!

Ruby Redd yes you are correct. I should have said effeminate. Being effeminate doesn’t always mean ones gay though. It could have been an act but doubt it. It doesn’t matter anyhow, he was able to communicate to an audience.

I am very grateful to see Little Richard in this interview with Tom Snyder. A wonderful show, I just love this living legend. Now in regards to Little Richard washing pots and pans at that Greyhound bus station, I got a secret to tell from my grandma when scrubbing stuck on food. You put water in the pot, dishwashing liquid, and place it on the stove, you use med. heat and let it simmer for 30 min. The pot will be easier to clean.

I also learned a hack for getting stuck on gunk off pans. It's simply this: put a drop or two of dish soap in the pot and used dryer sheet with warm water. It does something to the residue.

Tom Synder sounds bias to me and critical of how Little Richard looks. Especially when he says he looks like he is dressed up as Halloween. And he referred to him as color boy when that is old stuff. The identity is either Black or African American. Little Richard waa actually a handsome man even in his makeup. It was mostly for him to look different although he was gay as he admits. I love his music and his talent but glad that he gave his heart to the Lord before he passed almost two weeks ago. RIP talented and gifted man. Your music will live on in every generation.

Love this interview. At 12:03 we learn the original lyric: "Tutti Frutti" was not followed by "aw rooty." Interesting that Little Richard is 64 but looks much younger than 60-yr-old Snyder. Loved Tom's way of interviewing and Richard's frank and still-so-confident answers. He was truly a pioneer of 20th century music.

RIP to the central figure in pop culture: in George Harrison's words, "It's all his fault." Nobody -- not Elvis, nobody -- was as determinative. We would have had a form of rock -- it would have been intense, and it would have crossed ethnic lines -- but the radical, performative, flamboyant, glam, punk energy -- THAT wouldn't have happened. So: no Prince, no Bowie, no Hendrix, no Stones, no Kanye, no Queen, no Iggy Pop, no VU (indeed maybe no Warhol), no disco, no hiphop, no Beatles, who began as a leather band in German whorehouses. The transgressive thing would have been absent. It all would have Clapton, the Beach Boys, Ike and no Tina... Jazz would have had a far bigger role, and country. He was an absolutely amazing person, to think of this and do it.
