I am going to tell you what I know, not what I heard. JOAN OSBORNE is the best non-Motown vocalist I have ever heard sing MOTOWN. Joan has the soul, tempo, rhythm and emotion of the music. Joan was born to sing MOTOWN.

she's very versatile too. She can sing straight pop like her song "One Of Us". I even heard her sing with the Grateful Dead once.

Linda Ronstadt owned it as well. Her version is right up there with the two mentioned above.

This Movie should actually be shown in every school of the country. It's a part of US history and heritage, and one big part because this music has done more for the cultural expansion of the US than any other things.... and Joan is SO beautiful here...

I kept seeing the tape in truckstops several years ago and one night I thought I'd buy it. Glad I did and so was my wife as we were born in the mid 1950's and this is the music we grew up to. I've collected CDs through the years and I have them on my phone's Micro SD Card. Whenever I go walking, working around the house I listen to music from the 1930's to the 1980's. Some people are surprised that I still dance since I've had a heart attack and bypass surgery. I'm not dead yet. Dancing is just another form of exercise...

Look at the way Joan hangs with the band before she moves out to sing, the way that she grooves with them before she goes out. Watch how so many smile throughout the performance of the song. See the utter joy going on.

60's Motown! Such happy, joyful music! No wonder everybody thinks today's music is crap! It IS crap compared to this! I was lucky enough to have grown up during this time, and I can tell you all this - giants walked the Earth in those days!

Simply a classic. 31 people don't appreciate the fact that the original Motown band along with Joan are reproducing such an amazing classic song but that's ok because over 1400 do appreciate this song. Long live old school classics!!!!!!!

Gleeful rendition of a classic. Watch as the band lights up when Joan approaches the mic and sings. Hear the crowd react and cheer then. Watch Mr. Babbit concentrate while he digs in and plays bass so impeccably. Watch pops grin while he drums. Watch the background singers smile as they perform. This is sheer and utter happiness.

I played in the cincinnati area with a Motown cover band, and I loved every minute of it, To hear Joan with the Funk Brothers sent chills up and down my spine. Herd voice anong with that song rivals anyone including the original. I dis like cover songs by most groups but she did that song with such heart and soul I have absolutely no problem with that. Together her and the band worked magic that night.My hats off to them.

The Funk Brothers recorded on and produced more hits than Elvis and the Beatles combined. They never got the recognition they deserved. God Bless them!

***** I call BS fertilizer, which is more useful than your post. You are entitled to your opinion though. Have a good day sir!
@235buz9 жыл бұрын
***** Sorry sir, but I am a professional musician and know the facts of the number of hits. You seem to already know the answer, so I won't waste anymore time on the subject. Not really a troll either, but I respect others opinions. You apparently aren't a musician and that's alright. There are more people that aren't musicians than are. Was just stating a fact and not trying to take any recognition from Elvis or the Beatles. They deserve the recognition and fame for what they contributed. Have a good day!
@235buz9 жыл бұрын
***** It is a fact. It's actually stated in the documentary. Also you can research it on the web. I somehow get the feeling you want me to prove it to you, but won't really ask me to. Just ask for proof and I will provide it. I figured by now you would have submitted proof of your own. Have a good day!
