I work as a baker and started as a kitchen porter/dishwasher role and got promoted into a baking position, turns out I had to clean/do the KP role on top of the baking position for the same fucking salary. It made by blood boil, but everyone in this place was being taken advantage of by this bitch of a boss who liked to squeeze water out of stone. If I ever open a culinary business I vow to pay my workers for the hours they work and treat them with respect, fuck shitty bosses. Money makes people lose sight of the fundamentals, especially in this shitty industry. My advice to anyone in this position is to rise above the situation, don't rage quit and leave in a bad way. Be the best worker you can be and when you leave, make it difficult to replace you. The satisfaction of a boss begging you to stay or come back for shifts is more satisfying than burning bridges.

My dad was manager of a bakery. Worked his butt off, they (higher ups) consistently denied his vacations. So he asked for a down grade. (Simple right?) New manager came in, worked waaaay less, so my dad was doing same hrs (that he was promised he wouldnt due to the downgrading) at a lower salary and was still denied vacation so he was left no choice but to walk out (took half his coworkers with him too) and of course the new manager didnt last more then 2 wks after that.

For a second, that looked like my old restaurant. Except they have staff and the dishers could prep like mad. We'd do 400 covers on Sunday breakfast and it was usually pretty smooth.
@RealGateGuardian2 жыл бұрын
I recently quit my kitchen job at a retirement home. When I started as a prep cook in a different place, if I was more than 10 minutes late, I'd get stuck with dish detail. In exchange I wouldn't be written up or disciplined. Fair enough right? New place I was a prep cook was a retirement community. They mistreated their dishwashers so bad. In August of 2021 when I started, they had 6. By October, they had 2. They asked me to help, as I usually did help the dishwashers at the end of the night for OT. They promised they'd keep me 3 days prep, 2 dish. Come November, I was FT dish. My temp agency didn't get me or send me as a dishwasher. On Jan 21, 2022 they added more floor details including moping the dish room twice daily. Sick and tired, I fucking quit the next day. Managers and chefs didn't have the balls to answer the phone. My temp agency BEGGED me to return or do at least 3 days notice. I naturally told them that place broke contract with me so I broke contract with them.

Thats the problem with alot of jobs these days, when they come across great employees they dont appreciate them, they exploit them and use them and then expect them to pick up everybody elses slack and take on the tasks of 4+ workers all by themselves and have the nerve if they finally had enough and walk tf out
@StillYHWHs2 жыл бұрын
I did a job like that before period the work is all day left every dish from the whole day. They did nothing they were supposed to do on the 1st shift. I got stuck with all the dishes from Both shifts. I would have to work 4 hours overtime. Everyday. Because nobody did their work. I didn't get paid for overtime but was expected to do the work. Even though it wasn't my shift's work.I want night decided to leave them with my shifts work. I was just gonna walk off the job. So I worked that night. Only I didn't clean up anything either. They had a problem with that but they didn't realize I was not coming back. It's too bad because I liked all the people. But I am not doing 2 or 3 shifts at a time all by myself. For some reason most jobs I was always stuck with all the work and do an extra hours for no pay. Another job I would leave at 3:00 in the morning get to work stop 3 hours early leave 3 to 4 hours late and I only got paid for the regular hours. It'll be surprised how many jobs take advantage of people. And when you don't do it they harass you and bully you and abuse you. And then I've also seen people who go to work and never work but somehow they expect the elder people to take over all the jobs because these kids won't freaking work when they're there..
