Villain encounters Bond. Kill him immediately? No. Points at him long enough to give audience some exposition. Bond sees a conveniently placed drill that's also conveniently still operational. Bond leaves the villain standing in front of the drill. Villain runs for his life? No. Just stands there screaming and waiting for the drill to kill him. Just what people in the 90s love.

The point of Carver's character (along with many other Bond villains) is that they have a large ego and a God complex. Carver is probably the best example

@@kateofone Well... no. Bond villains have a huge God complex and believe they can't be killed. There's only a few that don't have such a massive ego, like Sanchez or Le Chiffrè

Jonathan Pryce he never fail to amazes me, his work especially playing a villian in this and Ronin. Rip to Ricky Jay who had a pivotal role in this.
