I remember watching this at the theater. Up to this point it was more or less a standard romantic comedy (with slightly odd comic-book/video-game humor), but this was such a crazy and unexpected turning point. Some people actually walked out of the theater, but I was like "holy shit, best movie ever"

True comic book/old video game kind of feel. Absolutely nothing like it and its honestly one of the best things about this movie. It perfect for the franchise/genera. I wish there were more like it.

They hit it perfectly adapting the fights from the games/comics what makes it even better is the movie isn't taking its self seriously at all so the fights don't stand out like sore thumbs they in fact enhance the movie since we know this film isn't serious tons of superhero movies try to act serious but have goofy fights like this so they don't work.

@@jeffbrownstain BEFORE the fight this wasn't hinted at, bc the story started out like a pretty atypical romcom until the Evil Exes came along. It was never mentioned in the scenes before the fight that Scott was the best fighter in the province, only during the first fight.

It’s likely for the movie they wanted to scenes of the people reacting with disbelief at Scott’s fighting ability which admittedly is funny. Comics and movies are different , it doesn’t hit the same visually if they are all just sitting there with no reaction because they know Scott is the best fighter in Toronto.

I found it funny that the 'that doesn't even rhyme' line was originally Patel's and given to scott for the movie. Works perfectly well in both contexts.

This was kind of a homage to Stephen Chow, with style like that of Kung Fu Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. Kind of comedy/action that hits you from an unexpected angle, not taking things seriously. Wish they made more movies like this.

I remember I saw this with my brother in the theater and my brother wanted to dip because he thought the movie was lame but as soon as Scott threw that punch and the fighting started he stayed 😂💀

Matthew was honestly the most likeable and normal evil ex. He even gave Scott a warning email just to explain the situation to him and make a fair fight. Too bad they wasted his character real quickly
