I was HORRIFIED walking out of the theater after learning Jumbo Shrimp’s fate. 😭😭😭 Fam, nothing he did justifies that kind of retribution.

I’m in my mid-30’s, grew up watching these guys, so I’m used to the absurd, sadistic shit that 80’s/90’s action heroes are capable of. But even I let out a “What the fuck?!” when Sly murdered Jumbo Shrimp for beating him in a thumb war.

I actually wanted to see this during its theatrical release to see how bad it is but it was pulled out of the cinemas near me so quickly. You can say that this franchise is expendable (I’ll see myself out)

Megan Fox played who I expect Megan Fox actually is in real life.

I don't think it's as bad as some people say but it's so forgettable. I think the disappointing thing about this franchise is that it never reached its full potential. I like the first 2 movies but even they fall on the forgettable side because they really don't feel like action movies from the 80s or 90s. It feels more like someone in the 2010s/early 2020s throwing an 80s themed party.

Good video but two points: 1. Dolph Lundgren was a good He-Man, even if the Masters of the Universe movie was so-so. (I think it started that now tired trope of fantasy characters pulled into the real world.) 2. Kelsey Grammar was good out of the box casting. The scene where he convinces Stallone he's dying is the best part of the movie. (Faint praise, I know, but still...)

This movie actually helped me get over that horrible excuse of a Madame Webb movie.

Man, this franchise was probably the last time I got excited for movies to be released. I used to go on a stallone fan message board every single day. The lead up to the first film was absolutely insane. The 2nd one was, in some ways better than the first (though in a lot of ways the first was still the best overall movie). Yeah the PG-13 rumors had us concerned, but they must've changed plans at the last minute (they even fixed a few things people pointed out in the trailer like the door Arnold throws off the smart car looked like it floated away. In the finished film, the shot was tighter and faster so you don't see it "float" lol). Then when the 3rd one was officially marketed as PG-13, I completely disavowed it and didn't bother seeing it in theaters. When I saw it later on, I could've pointed out a million things wrong with it. Glad I saved my money. I haven't looked forward to seeing any new movies since. In a fair and just world, John McTiernan would've directed the first film and gave us something as awesome as Predator and Die Hard. Part 2 would've been directed by Paul Veerhoven and been an insanely meta gratuitous romp that was sillier, but more fun than the first. Then to round off the trilogy and make sure the franchise goes out properly: James Cameron (well, 80's-era director James Cameron. 90's era-present day Cameron would've been too preachy and been fine with a PG-13 rating as well, lol). I love Arnie and Sly but they dropped the ball by not appearing in a movie together during their prime years. Some say Stallone in Predator as part of Arnold's team would've been the perfect time for their pairing up. I disagree. I think Stallone in Terminator 2 would've been perfect. However, I don't know if Sly as the T-1000 is best, or if Sly is a another soldier from the future sent back to protect the Connors and Arnold is the bad guy again (I love Arnold as the bad Terminator in the first film leaps and bounds more than as the good one in T2. As well as the overall tone of the first film overall).

Iko Uwais should be the biggest action star in the world but God damn he cannot catch a break with the casting.

That was a funny jab at Andy Garcia as he's pretty much Stanley Tucci now. But let's not forget he was in Black Rain.

I knew this movie when I realised who was directing it, who was co-starring in it, and who was writing it, that's like the ultimate trifecta of how to get me disinterested in watching a movie, when your director, screenwriter and cast member don't have much of a good track record to their names.

Awesome video as always, Jesse! I remember seeing this in the theater and thinking, "This is exactly the type of movie Jesse would review." You did it justice. If you're ever looking for recommendations, I just watched the movie, Fatman, starring Mel Gibson and Walton Goggins where Gibson plays a Santa Claus type character. Definitely full of ridiculousness, but I still slightly enjoyed it. I think it would be funny to watch you review it. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!!!

I saw this with my wife and father in law. After the movie, we talked about wanting to walk out, but thought the other was enjoying it, ha.

Unfortunately they gave this film to Scott Waugh to helm, a guy who should never be in the director's chair. All his films use awful CG (see the equally terrible Hidden Strike) and he has no idea how to stage, block and shoot action. I didn't bother to watch this Expendables instalment as once I saw he was the director, I knew it would suck balls big time. And what a surprise - it did.

I saw the movie a week after it came out and it was bad but it wasn't like super laughably bad. It was just much more of the same. There's nothing new just over the top action full of cliches and full of tropes that we've seen before. Nothing really new Expendables needs to be done.

I liked this movie for what it was. It wasn't really an Expendables movie as much as it was a Statham movie. I liked it better than 3, although Mel Gibson was a much better villain than Andy García. I missed Antonio Banderas' Galgo, but Jacob Scipio did a pretty good job at imitating him. Fun movie overall. I didnt like how they made Lundgren look like a totally useless goof tho

One big reason I decided to skip out of Expendables 4 was because of what Avi Lerner did to Terry Crews. And 50 Cent replacing him after dogging him on Twitter was the nail in the coffin for me. I’m actually glad that the end result was a shitfest, because Karma is a bitch.

This film was okay. Not terrible, but not great either. There was a noticeable amount of poor cgi; green screen, and a much lower budget. It was a massive downgrade in quality over the last 3 movies and unless a 5th movie has the same budget and quality as the last 3 movies the series is done. Although without Stallone it’s done anyway.
