Calzaghe had that "killer instinct" that is so rare in boxing. Even - and especially - when he got in a little trouble, he responded with an amazing focus. I've never seen anyone able to pour it on like Calzaghe could, especially when momentum seemed to be shifting. That's what makes champions, and Joe was a GREAT champion! Just an impressive competitor!

One of the very best fights in the past 40 years. BOTH of these guys were awesome, but Joe is simply super-human. The guy takes a punch better than any other champion I've ever seen, and then gives it right back to ya, only by 2 fold.

Now, I watched this fight years ago. I watched the documentary where Joe and Kessler relieved the bout. I still get chills when Micheal Buffer calls the introduction. Lol!!🤣 I love this fight, it's like a movie. 🎬

Johnny Patrick like who give names RJJ is not included from the 90s- 04 at that time RJJ was on another level arguably no. 1 P4P in the world so who do you have in mind oh Tarver,Dawson , Pavlik glen johnson, I think calzaghe has proved he beats these guys one way or another

You must not watch boxing too much. Calzaghe often slapped with his punches and looked silly vs Hopkins. Ever see Sugar Ray Robinson ? SRL ? Roberto Duran ?

Kessler really did his best. He showed amazing heart. Never gave up even though he was out boxed most of the fight. He fought a courageous and good tactical fight. Joe Calzaghe just fights like an animal. He's so awkward and strange. The punches come out of no where even if some of them are slappy. He like Pac Man with another 30 pounds. Jab jab straight left hand over and over again. And Kessler did his best to knock Joe out in the 12th round. Great fight by both men.

Last 3 rounds Calzaghe turns it up and/or Kessler tires, but before that i didn't see it as a wide Calzaghe victory. It seemed pretty even with kessler landing the cleaner, harder shots in spots, though Calzaghe was never troubled and always the aggressor.

Joe is an animal in this fight and many others. He never got the respect in the U.S. that he deserved. His conditioning is amazing.....more so considering the age difference here.

kessler said calzaghe was a much better fighter than froch although he did say CF had a bit more power so calzaghe beats CF with his workrate over the 12 on points

Calzaghe beat a prime Kessler. Froch lost to an aging Kessler, and won a close fight in the rematch against an over the hill kessler. Froch isn't in the same league as calzaghe

Lol you call Kessler over the hill when he fought Froch .. what the hell were Roy Jones and 43 year old Hopkins when Calzaghe fought them ? Froch beat a near prime Kessler and Eard destroyed a prime Kessler. Kessler was a B plus fighter but he wasn’t grade A.

I think Froch was too slow for Calzaghe, 10 rounds in favor of Calzaghe, the only solution for Froch would have been to try to put Ko Calzaghe, but since he was too slow I don't think he could worry him, despite Froch being a boxer unpredictable, Calzaghe was beyond, much more skilled!

Never ever liked Joe's style but you can't take anything from him, to go unbeaten in any sport is good but more so in this hard sport, but it makes me laugh at some of these comments slagging him off ,and I'd bet money these same guys making these little digs have never ever laces up a pair of gloves and fought...

At l ast Froch took chances and fought dangerous opponents. Why do UK fans worship Calzaghe ? He fought a very weak resume. Cherry picking a shot Roy Jones and fighting Hopkins when he was 43. You should be proud of Froch. He fought Ward who was P4P number two in his PRIME. I don’t get why UK fans slag Froch and worship Calzaghe. It seems strange. Calzaghe is not as well regarded outside the UK.

Why do you say that? This was actually one of the better "called fights" I've ever witnessed by commentators. I usually hate commentators for spewing all kinds of nonsense, but they got it right on this one. I've always liked Emanuel Steward as a commentator due to his actual trainer's experience.

I have to say Slappy Joe was very well managed and protected by both his slippery father , and the most overprotective manager and promotor in Britain . Slappy normally caught guys past their best, but here they caught a young Kessler not really mature or ready for a title fight. Even saying this imo Kessler landed the harder and cleaner shots and no wide slaps.

His fight vs Kessler was probably the best in super middleweight in this century! Both man were fighting their hardest and gave fans a clean, fair boxing epic, yet you put it,and him down!
