Joe Cocker live in concert from 1992.
Cocker is an English rock/blues singer who came to popularity in the 1960s, and is most known for his gritty voice, his idiosyncratic arm movements while performing and his cover versions of popular songs, particularly those of The Beatles.
Says Cocker of this song: The chorus for "When The Night Comes" was written by Bryan Adams and Diane Warren in Los Angeles. Bryan and I wrote the verses and completed the song in Vancouver a few days later."

I love this song and I loved singing this song with the great JOE COCKER. That's me...Cydney Wayne Davis, the backup singer to the left of the screen. I toured with Joe for about five years in the early ninety's. This song is pure rock and soul.....pure Joe Cocker. I had to use everything I learned in church to sing this song. It has a gospel edge to it. The other singer is Maxine Sharp and Phil Grande is playing a mean guitar solo. The whole band is great and Joe is a true star.

Joe did not write his own songs, if so very rarely. He covered other artists songs putting his unique twist on them. But he had such an iconic strong unique voice, and ALWAYS had a great band backing him! His With A Little Help From My Friends at Woodstock was iconic, one of best live performances ever, & so moving for that 60's generation..timeless!

I spent 14 years sitting still while the people around me called me a homeless peron so i ignored them. But while sitting there joe cocker whom i never met ran to where i was wearing tights and a superhero cape. It brought a huge smile to me and thr smile returns thinking back on that. Too humble and cool of a human. I just wanted to share that.

When I listen to When the Night Comes, I hear a voice that is reaching from his soul. He knows time is waning, being closer to death than youth, but that's what makes him belt it out. Every ounce of Joe Cocker was purely from deep experiences, some we don't have privy to. He brought a song to its knees by pushing every note from within. Thank you God for putting this man on earth, even if only a little while, we all got to share him. Now he is there for someone.

I knew Joe, band and stuff personally in the early 90s touring all over Germany. I was working as a very young manager in the music business and this band gave me always a very positive professional feeling. Joe was twice very close to death (NDE) and afterwards he transformed from an alc and drug freak to a world superstar, as well his wife influenced a lot in this fantastic transformation.... RIP Joe and Phil ! Your beautiful heart and music will be always here, thank you so much !! Hi Cydney, great job, great voice, enough to fall in love with you... :)

Great artists give their all to have the chance to share their gift with their audience. It's a relationship. I've learned to honor and respect the people that pay their hard earned money to see a concert like the one posted. The love of music makes us all ONE. It's the universal language.

I will never forget hearing this song live in 2000 when he played Calgary.... Opening for The Guess Who. It should have been the other way around. He came back out and did FOUR ENCORES. This version of this song, is the absolute best.

Joe Cocker is not just one of the best singers ever, is a gigantic symbol of a generation that carry with him the spirit of the 70's, idealistic, romantic, a bunch of dreamers that as baby boomers do positive things today for a better world in whatever activity of life. Joe Cocker simply BEAUTIFUL! as human being and artist.
