The measure of a great song is when you can strip it down to the blueprint and it still works. I LOVE the original but this version proves that it's a solid piece of composition. Beauiful.

This version is quite nice i should say and it's like a receptionist office or elevator version of this great song

Yeah, if you've seen The Blues Brothers, you can imagine this playing during the elevator scene towards the end. :D

This is what inspired me to do my version of Joe's great song. I consider it a modern standard. Any version brings me chills especially when Joe's behind it!

I loved this song when I was 16 years old, and I love it even more at 48 y/o, about to be 49 y/o in five days, Love you Joe Jackson, keep rockin! !♡

@LegionIvory3 жыл бұрын
Honestly didn't know he was British. lol

He lived a good chunk of his life in NYC, so that can def attribute to sounding more American.

I love this version, just discovered it a few weeks ago and thought it was hilarious. Glad you dig the pictures - it was tough scrounging for "Joe-only" shots that were also taken within the past decade (considering there isn't alot of Joe Jackson media available in general)

This is great fun, and fun is a hugely underrated aspect of music. I think Joe has always tried to find new live arrangements of this song, as the high quality of the original studio version is difficult to match.

Sounds like he's playing a Hohner Pianet. Great sound. And knew "Steppin Out" would translate into a jazzier transposition easily. It already has the right chord progressions.
@MisterSister4206 жыл бұрын
That's probably because the original is already jazzy.

I like the original one better, but this one is beautiful as well, and I guess really it's just as good, just in a different way. Either way, this is one of my favorite songs of all time, so I guess I'm just very attached to the version that I'm used to. I've been a lounge lizard in my distant past, so I like this. I wish I could have seen this in person... Come to Charlotte, NC, Joe! I will be in the front row if possible! I'll bring my flute and play along! Ha! Ha!

Joe Jackson lived in New York from 1981 to 2003. He must have picked up at least a bit of one of the most famous accents in the world over those twenty-two years.
nice song i'f got him from my father!!! í love this song

@muziekbericht Here is the line-up (from an email I received today): Joe Jackson: Vocals, Piano, Synthesizer, Melodica Graham Maby: Vocals, Bass Dave Houghton: Vocals, Drums, Percussion, Loops etc. Sounds like it could be VERY different from the recent trio tours, which is really refreshing and exciting to me!

wow this is great. they find their groove at the end. its too bad it had to end, they should have adlibed and played the song again. i just found the title of this song a few days ago. one of those songs you always have in the back of your head but never know the name to, like "king of wishful thinking" by go west (but that one is easy you get the idea..)

VIP nights are about placing the public back as the central element in all this - regulations may severely effect business but are aimed squarely at altering public behaviour. In a reversal of what politics should be we are now deemed lowest of the low and in need of guiding by our political class - would that our mistakes come anywhere close to theirs. They need a salutary reminder of whose interests they ought serve or have their last orders rang. In that, we're all VIPs.

Awesome! I really hoped this could make someone's day as much as it made (and continues to make) mine. I've got ALOT of bootleg Jackson material, and there are ALOT of cool versions that I'll try to get up over time - sadly I think there are few photo possibilities left. Any ideas? I hate syncing live audio to different live video, but I've seen it done quite a few times...
