In reality cause it is! To me and people that truly appreciate the meaning of boxing wether Chinese or just the sport itself, there’s levels to things, and Bruce Lee by far IS STILL on top! Not speaking from the heart just honestly! The man had Floyd Mayweather defensive skills and just with that is enough for me to have him top 3 ever! Now add to that all the EXTRA shit he did, he took the mentality of boxing and applied it to his whole body! He really can’t be touched, not saying it’s impossible but virtually it is, and as me classifying as Floyd as the greatest defensive boxer and overall greatest boxer ever, I have to give credit where credit is due! I could be wrong but I know I’m not when I say that Bruce Lee was legitimately better overall in boxing defense than Floyd, so now just imagine all the shit he was able to do in his prime

Joe Rogan doesn't understand what made Bruce Lee on film so compelling. It wasn't fancy kicks or punches but the power, magnetism and charisma behind simple kicks and punches. There were guys back in the 60s and 70s that could do much fancier kicks than Bruce Lee. But that wasn't the point. That's not what Bruce was going for. He could do a simple punch and make you go, "Whoa!", because it was so dynamic.

What many people don't know about Bruce Lee was his primary martial art was going foot, wing Chun. Everything else he adapted to his skill set. He loved Ali's foot work, he liked fencing. He hated the confines of martial art styles. He was the grandfather of martial arts. He was way ahead of his time. He had problems with racist Hollywood and getting roles in movies. He moved to China and began making his own fight scenes and Hollywood seen what Bruce wanted to show everyone.

Bruce Lee was the founder of modern MMA. He was the person to say we must not have one style we must be open to expanding and opening up martial arts styles and taking whats best from each instead of a rigid system. Bruce Lee was a genius and way ahead of his time. In 100 years no one will know who Conor McGregor is but they will know who Bruce Lee is.
@UToobUsername015 жыл бұрын
According to haters Bruce was small and weak so therefore he didn't invent anything. There was this guy on a youtube channel "Crowder" or something like that who did a hit piece on Bruce Lee. The guy tried his best to say Bruce didn't create any form of mix martial arts because western society had wrestling and some boxing and other things from ancient times that could be combined before Bruce. The point is without Bruce asian culture would still be seen as "eastern mysticism" by white guys today. Bruce went against the grain. A lot of people today are jealous of the guy blazing a trail. Its the male ego at work here. The purpose of martial arts is still to defend yourself against real life threats not as a sport to show off. When Bruce gave away a lot of knowledge the asians did not like this as it was handing secret over to the enemy. Bruce helped to remove the bullshit from martial arts and just give us the science behind it which is why so may fake martial artists hate him because it ruined their business. By shitting on people's heroes they think they can obtain larger profit. The crowder guy is no exception to that rule.

actually Bruce was not the first. When he came to the U.S he was pretty much a pure Wing Chun guy. The first people to do mma were in Hawaii. Bruce became friends with Ed Parker and became exposed to eclectic philosophy on MA. Bruce had a real fight with another Chinese martial artist and found he couldn't finsh him with Wing Chun which gave rise to Jeet Kune Do/ Bruce's mix of various MA. Check out the history of Kajukenbo. Bruce was not the first by a long shot.

@@dustinmartindale7482 To be fair, Bruce's first step into mixing styles was taught to him by Wong Shun Leung, his principle instructor in Ip Man's school. Wong wasn't just a Kung Fu teacher, but a prolific street fighter. Wong taught Bruce to ditch the BS in an actual fight, which Bruce took to heart, and really developed when he met countless martial artists from various schools over his way too short lifetime.
