Sam Seder: You know we've been talking about Joe Rogan on this program for years and I think you know Michael was of the mind, and I agreed with his assessment of this that the problem Joe Rogan had was that he just read the wrong sources on some level, but I think here you can also see not only is he reading the wrong sources he's not reading very much. And there is an arrogance that's associated with this that is I mean look we're all you know sitting here with the camera uh trained on us so it involves a certain amount of narcissism and arrogance that's baseline. Like our audience is a fraction of what Joe Rogan's is and
Francesca: But what a fraction well it's i mean it's the best...
SS: But the point being is that you have a responsibility and if you're going to go out there and make these bold proclamations about stuff read two articles follow up on an article. Here is a Joe Rogan with Josh Zeps actually, who former HuffPost live guy he had a podcast that we used to record in the studio for a couple of times back in the day. And he's with Rogan and Rogan makes this claim about myocarditis, which I found just sort of fascinating because well we'll talk about it afterward, but I looked it up it was September 24th we talked about this dynamic because I had heard about that myocarditis and I have kids who are getting vaccinated around that time. I had a son who's eligible for vaccination coming up and I want to know about it, but here's Joe Rogan and this is a fascinating segment...

@UC8UsRVhw83C6h6ph0b58H8Q I don’t trust Joe Rogan. I’m just saying the people who criticize him don’t do any better. During this pandemic, Sam has been wrong many times about Covid. Neither should be censored or accused of misinformation. Sam should just own his mistakes like Rogan does, but why doesn’t he? Because Sam will lose credibility as a journalist. Joe Rogan is just a podcaster he does not report the news. Sam’s little nut dumpsters will never question him. Every time I watch Rogan or anyone else I always question him and verify his opinions with facts. That’s the difference.

Only b/c so many people will take his word too seriously. Honestly everyone should watch JRE under the assumption the guest knows more than him, and that's sort of the point of the show. @@DIYTFY Saying "I was wrong" and then continuing to make the same cases going forward, continuing to push the exact same narrative, does not undo the harm he has caused. The fact that he has 200 million views a month isn't a good thing when he's spreading misinformation. It means people are continuing to consume misinformation, and their lives will be negatively impacted by that. 200 million views is representative of the influence he has and the *responsibility* he has, and Joe Rogan continues to shirk his responsibility. @@scottw9267 Unfortunately the cement that is the data and science behind this pandemic won’t be dry for many many years. For now it is best to turn to the specialized medical community who is most capable of understanding the risks and the steps we should take to combat the pandemic. Seder is using their comments and suggestions as the best solution we know of today. When you are actively supporting a hesitancy to their suggestions, it requires you to have the sound data to back it up which no one has, especially not Rogan. Links get deleted on KZfaq but Google Risks of myocarditis, pericarditis, and cardiac arrhythmias associated with COVID-19 vaccination or SARS-CoV-2 infection from nature. In the meantime (and to your point) other countries are stopping the use of moderna for men under 30 for thr very reason that rogan is being accused of misinformation. Speculation, but I'm fairly confident it is also why moderna has been unable to get official fda approval even though pfizer got it months ago and moderna still can't get a pediatric vaccine authorized for emergency use. Also again to your point, the WHO has come out and said healthy children should not get boosters but our local health officials are saying that they should based on absolutely ZERO data as presented in pfizers own trials. I am triple vaxxed. I think it was the right thing to do despite developing tittinus from my booster. My kids, it seems pretty overwhelming that it's not the right thing for them based on how well they did when they got covid. Also, to be clear, seder is amplifying a piece of disinformation, your characterization of what he is doing herr is wrong. Maybe you want to call it misinformation for the sake of anti misinformation, but it is still disinformation. He isn't using the comments of experts to make his point... he's taking a study that (assuming he read it) he knows is flawed but is regurgitating it to his gullible audience to "dunk" on rogan for clicks.

@@scottw9267 zero evidence seems not accurate when we are literally looking at studies, they may not be perfect to your note but still it’s what we have. It seems strange that local health officials are using something they have “zero evidence of” if there is literally evidence out there that 60 per million get it for men under 30. Also, are they forcing young men to get the Moderna booster??? I am certain they are just advising to get the vaccine and it’s up to you and your doctor to determine which one… don’t really see how this is a problem of your local health officials. Using your logic, pfizer passed through the FDA so it seems like it is probably ok for whatever they suggested and even if you don’t want to get your child vaccinated there are no mandates for children under 18 that I know of. if you want to argue the nuance of under 18 year old men getting the Moderna vaccine/booster, that is one thing. You can recommend that young men get the other one. I don’t think if you pressed Seder or health officials they would be forcing you to take the Moderna only. The bigger issue with Rogan and others is when you use that to provide a much larger vaccine hesitancy amongst everyone. Using “under 18 young men” and “myocarditis” as a monolith for a much large antivaxx sentiment is a problem.

It probably also doesn't hurt that I am nearly obsessed with being correct or at least having justifiable beliefs, and the easiest way to do that is to listen to experts and all that. I hate realizing I'm wrong with a burning passion, far more than admitting it.

It could have something to do with people calling this a ‘vaccine’ when it’s very clearly an experimental medical device. They had to change the definition of ‘vaccine’ to make this experimental medical device fit, so that big pharma, government, and mainstream media and medical field do not have to call it an experimental medical device every time it’s referred to, which doesn’t convey “safe and effective”. Joe Rogan is doing something great with his platform. Getting folks to start questioning reasoning/motives. We are being inundated with propaganda right now. People who don’t want to take part in these jab trials, let them be. Love your own life and make the choice that’s best for you, and let others do the same for themselves. Stay sovereign.

What's most revealing about that whole exchange is that it's evident that's the first time Rogan has searched for any evidence of the claim. He does a Google search and lo and behold, what comes up completely contradicts what he had in his head. He doesn't have the slightest clue where he got the information, likely because someone sent him something, there was text on his screen, it confirmed what he wanted to believe, and he filed it away as "fact." But when challenged, he has no idea where it came from, but he believes it, because it was in "articles I've read."

I’m a first year student at University and ar the moment I am learning how to actually do “yOuR oWn ReSeArCh”. I am doing a tiny paper in a 4 week period and I have already read about 5 100+ pages scientific articles. And that is not for the actual research, that is just preliminary research to formulate a concrete, specific and open research question. Like you can’t just ask “are vaccines safe?”. That is way too vague and closed off. What vaccines specifically? Safe for who? What do you mean by safe? What is safe enough? You need to actually define all these things and not just based on your opinion but on established quality research that others already did. So you first need to read up on all the actual biology to understand the entire process of vaccination or else you won’t be able to ask a specific question about a bodily process. An actual scientific question in that direction would read more like (I’m no doctor so this is not accurate with the terms) “To what extent does intramuscular injection of BNT162B2 interfere with T-cell-32 nucleotide inhibition of pancreatic mumosis?”. That you can actually find out, that will not just yield a yes or no answer, that others can actually falsify and debate. With a vague question like “are vaccines safe” you can never prove it one way or the other because you can always shift the goal posts to something else, “vaccines” and “safe” cover enough subjects to talk about for a lifetime. If you want to find out if young kids are more at risk from myocarditis from a vaccine or from covid you can’t just look up one or two articles and say “I did my research”. You need to cover all the angles, what is myocarditis, what is covid, what are mrna vaccines, how does covid cause myocarditis, how do vaccines cause myocarditis. If you don’t want to spend that much effort that is totally reasonable but then don’t act as if you actually did research. Then just trust the experts, like you already do with literally everything else.

I have a degree in pharmacy, and had some training in medicine. However, I still have trouble reading research papers. It takes me very long, and my attention and patience often run out before I can determine if the piece is relevant for a dissertation or project. I was diagnosed with phonic dyslexia, which could be partly contributing to the problem. Do you have any strategies for this?
@LesterBrunt
@LesterBrunt 2 жыл бұрын
@@berniethekiwidragon4382 I’m just first year but from what I learned so far I realized research papers almost always follow the same structure. There is an introduction and then several chapters going in depth on the main subjects followed by some kind of conclusion. The introduction is the most important if you want to scan the document for relevancy because it should include everything. Other ways to make it more comprehensible is printing out the paper so you can make highlights, cut out parts, add notes, sort them etc. You can also do all that digitally but for me personally I find it far easier to sort and organize if I have it in physical form. But the most important thing is having a concrete subject that will result in actual research. If your subject is too broad you’ll never finish reading papers. It is very hard to just come up with that on your own. It is far easier to let yourself be led by the literature. For instance sometimes papers can’t reach a conclusion on something, or they have a disagreement with a different study, or they find a new problem/situation. Often times when you read literature you find new things that point you in new directions and those are the kind of trails that lead you to specific subjects. As an example my study is about the extent to which “Are You Sphongled?” by Shpongle can be considered sacred music. I didn’t come up with that on my own. My first subject was psychedelic music but that is too vague, that includes over half a century of music from dozens of genres, to just historically write about that would take 10 years to do properly. So I narrowed my search to psychedelic music from 90’s/00. Then I started reading a lot about Goa-trance so I searched for that. Then I found a lot of papers describing the culture and several times I noticed they described that there was a particular sacred aspect to the culture and experience of the music. I find that pretty remarkable as I had never considered that so I started searching for the sacred aspects of goa trance and actually found two bundles both like 300 pages papers on the sacred aspects of Goa-trance and rave culture. I know Shpongle’s artists were gigantic figureheads of Goa and Psytrance and since “Are You Shpongled?” was one of the first major psy-trance projects that was downtempo, not made for the dancefloor but for the livingroom, I think I can make a decent case for it having aspects of sacred music. I just have 4 weeks for this paper so I am doing a tiny bit of research, just trying to somewhat objectively define some aspects of a music album.

Im glad to see that someone finally adressed the fact that myocarditis isn't necessarily serious and is usually temporary not chronic. If you asked 100 joe fans what myocarditis is 50 would say "heart failure" 25 would say "i don't know but, i know its life threatening" and the rest would have various responses only a few of which would be correct.

Here's an exact quote from this video: "Our audience is a fraction of what Joe Rogan's is". Yes. "The Majority Report" does not represent any majority and is not a report, but a rant by a minority of lefties trying to desperately make themselves relevant while people flood to the other side with millions of viewers, people like Dave Rubin, Naomi Wolfe, Russel Brand, Joe Rogan, Tim Pool, more every day.. In the 1960's my father said "If you are a conservative under 30 years old you have no heart, and if you a re a liberal over 30 years old you have no brain." Still true.

I stopped watching Joe after he interviewed Chuck Palahniuk who wrote fight club, so one of the best dark humour writers around and all Joe wanted him to talk about was censorship, but Chuck knows it's no worse now than 2 decades ago and personnally for him as a ga y writer it was actually harder back then. At one point Chuck was telling a story of how he offended someone in an improv class he was at and Joe was like she should get over herself and Chuck a human being with emotions was like no I felt really bad, I tell jokes for people to laugh at, if people get upset especially the people you are telling the joke too, it's not a joke. Their takeaway from that was there you go some are rapists never mentioning the reason this was happening and also nevermind the fact that the people doing the raping are not the ones illegally immigrating . It made me sick to my stomach , but Joe will defend himself now by saying "we didn't know what proud boys was back then " . I've watched Sam for years... He has always tried to stop short of vulgarity on his show (batcrap crazy, etc). He was letting them drop. His animation was totally proportional to his outrage: Good! Rogan is shallow and lazy. His "belief's" are purely for the benefit of his aesthetic. I think what Francesca was about to say was important. Rogan fuses a semmingly holistic personal health/wellness ethic (that is it's self bunkum) with a personal style choice for 15-45 yr old males that is perfectly tailored for the shallowest of that demographic.

I think the operative word in that headline was "study". A singular study isn't very useful. I'm a layman so I'll try not to overstep my bounds, but if 20 studies suggest a link or a trend, I'll probably go ahead and assume that there's a decent correlation. If one study suggests something, that's an interesting idea that should be researched more.

@@LiarJudas666 well 1 study isn’t as good as 20 studies for sure lol but a study is a study. I posted this comment because of the way Sam went “SUGGESTS!” Even if there were 100 studies on the topic, no self respecting scientist would say this “proves” or “verifies” something. Unless we are discussing literal laws of nature, like the laws of thermodynamics or Newton’s first law of motion, do we ever use any word other than suggests. The reason science is so great is that it leaves room for discussion and correction :)
