Intermittent fasting 100% works. I eat between noon and 8:00 pm around my work schedule. Energy levels are up, weight is down, overall mood improved and I don’t feel like I’m missing anything.

Honestly it has been an up and down of around 3 kg the last few months, the pandemic did cause a few days of stress eating or extra work hours that require a meal to go that usually wound up meaning fast food. Knowing how to order fast food without the extra carbs helped keep me on track with my goals. Anyways I think we are finally realizing that middle ground of a series of simple changes for a healthy life without going to a radical shift from the standard american diet that resembles scenes from the idiocracy movie or supersize me to radical vegans with all of their impossible meat and soylent green like that of a Huxley novel or some other. Done with rambling - yall stay healthy!

@Ben Dover Of course you need to eat more if you physically exert yourself more. I train every day except for saturday, I weigh 240lbs, and if I had only two meals a day I'd be skinny as hell and I'd probably have less energy to work out. On the other hand, if I worked an office job and didn't train, I'd probably be ok with just two meals. To each their own =)

I had a colonoscopy a few weeks back, and part of the prep, after having no fiber for a week before, the 24 hrs before is a strictly clear fluid diet... I don't believe I've ever gone a day without some sort of food. I was really concerned I'd end up completely hangry and twitchy. I was shocked to discover that my boby had zero problem. It was actually no big deal... but then I was really psyching myself up about it all. Funny, often times it never turns out as bad as we make it out to be in our minds. I ended up feel really good, and lighter. The intermittent fasting thing now intrigues me.

Absolutely, I was a bit sceptic about Intermittent Fasting first, but since March (Covid lockdown), I have been doing the 16/8 and seen great results (been hitting running PBs, getting back to long distance running). A staple part of my diet over past couple of years has been drinking Yerba Mate tea - and this really helps keeping off the hunger, as well as being great for metabolism. When you do eat, I imagine the foods we intake during the 'eating window' will be absorbed by the body more so, so it encourages me to eat better foods. I usually have my breakfast foods as my 12pm lunch.

@@thecouplechallenge7110 hey, no worries! I might have a coffee once in a blue moon just for taste, or with an occasion desert, but not really as a ‘pick me up’, I think to be drinking Yerba Mate and coffee daily might be a bit of a caffeine overload. Yerba Mate comes from South America (mainly Argentina/Paraguay/Uruguay/Brazil), it comes in loose leaves, so you will need a bombilla (filtered straw) to drink it. A lot of professional footballers from there swear by it, inc Messi, Suarez and Co! You can hopefully find it pretty easy online from wherever you are! :)

I can confirm everything Rollins has said here. I work from home full time and get sucked into "the zone" on a daily basis. I never eat breakfast and by the time I'm ready to step away from my home office for some lunch, it's already around 3PM. In fact, I'm not even cognizant of the fact I haven't had lunch due to feeling hungry, it's simply just a "oh wait, I haven't eaten today". It has put me into this state of mind where I'm now totally fine with waiting until dinner and eating whatever I want. Interestingly enough, when it does come time to eat that first meal of the day, which is dinner, my brain tells me that I need to eat an entire buffet and then halfway through a plate of food, I feel very full. Overall, I eat MUCH less, it's really strange.
@patrickmccutcheon8860
@patrickmccutcheon8860 5 жыл бұрын
Your stomach adapts to how much food you eat. I did the same thing when I graduated high school and started working. It was much easier for me to skip breakfast and eat light lunches if no lunches at all. I'd come home hungry as fuck thinking I needed ten plates of food when a half of a plate would fill me up because my stomach shrank.

Yeah,I was prescribed adderall & it made me feel the exact same way,I would forget to eat or when the last time was but it was kinda disconcerting to not eat all day AND not notice. I figured it had to be terrible for me since I didn't see myself as overweight to begin with,but doc watched it & said it usually fades. Maybe It all leveled out because it dimmed the urge to auto-eat so many meals conditioned into us?I only eat like twice a day now & hold a healthier weight even long after abandoning the script,but sadly without it I may have never realised the excess I ate & carried around. My brother is about the same age & avg size,but with his continued poor eating he now has to deal with full blown diabetes at 36. Not recommending using drugs for a quick diet at all,that just brought it to my attention.Having two people with some fame taking the time to make some useful points & offer tips that help them and may help others is what really gets the needed attention.

Yeah he is not wrong. I recently started this fasting thing and boy did my energy go up. I have been struggling with sleep and getting up in the morning all my life . It is like a running joke at my work because i was late so often and everyone had sort of accepted it. Now i sleep all night and sometimes bounce out of bed at 4 and hit the gym at 5 in the morning before work . Its crazy . I do the same 16/8 time frame as Joe but sometimes i fast longer on the weekends.

I started intermittent fasting when I turned 29. I did two straight days out of the week of 600 calories each day. Waist line shrunk. Skin started looking better, energy was through the roof. My blood pressure went from 143/90 to 125/73. Our bodies run more efficiently on a routine of stress, rest, adapt, repeat.

I often eat only twice a day, and at some meals eat only protein, or only vegetables, for example. *This really is like clean energy mode,* versus stuffing back a whole variety of food every few hours. Starchy carbs, processed foods, really spicy or fried foods, desserts and snack foods, I don't crave any of those things because I stopped caring about them so they don't t really call out to me. Bonus info: *hold off on eating at strange times while you fly overseas, and then wait to eat the next morning after sleep* - this resets your circadian rhythm so you can *recover from jet lag.* You really don't need any food on the flight after dinner in your departure time zone. This assumes good self-care, rest, hydration and diet in days leading up to travel.

Good point. And I think Henry definitely talks from a perspective of a guy who used to work out a lot and you just need calories for that. If you can pack the amount of calories you need to grow in two meals without bloating, then more powet to ya, but it won't be realistic or convenient for most. And there's this whole social aspect to food and eating, that I don't even wanna get into...

Traveled to Volgograd,Russia a few years ago and the sodas tasted 'off'. It was the sugar.None of the cheap high-fructose corn syrup in any of them,really, I searched around over the few weeks cuz I was used to the taste & drank many a can back then. It surprised me that we load up our citizens in the US with that stuff & Russia seems to avoid it,AND many offices have a mandatory exercise break there. The girl I was there seeing had commented on the number of overweight people she saw here & I began to notice this as well after her observation & seeing the avg crowds over there compared to here.We have issues.

Educating our youth with these types of diets would be so beneficial. Because, it's too late for a lot of these people that will never adapt to these types of methods.

I need to tweak some things to make sure I'm getting enough calories but I switched to eating only twice a day this week, and implemented intermittent fasting. I'll eat lunch about 1, then I'll eat again around 6, and I wont again til 1 the next afternoon. I'm staying to feel really good, I'm not sliking my insulin more than I have to, my legs dont feel heavy either. I also drop how much water I drink. I drink to thirst , not just chug a whole bottle of water at a time.

I absolutely love breakfast always have always will but after pushing my no food window gradually up to 14 15-16 hrs… I don’t Wake up starving for some waffles lol.
