Real zen guy. Seems comfortable in his own skin. He still has that young boy sparkle in his eyes and youthful exuberance.

I was fortunate to attend a meet and greet about 12 months before this interview in ATL. Through conversation alone (he is exactly the same in person), he caused me to change my whole approach to guitar and learning music. My friend of 30 years (who was also at the M&G) came to see me a few months later and commented that I had improved dramatically after talking with Joe. The intelligence of his playing is no accident. My playing hasn't been the same since. I think the statement he made that stuck with me the most was: "You can't just memorize the notes on the fret board. You have to KNOW them." Understanding what that means is all the difference.

Exactly!!!! He doesn't compare himself to others. He praises other guitarist that inspired him. A very gracious & humble musician.

I think that this Biogaphical interview with Joe Satrani is so good is because he is being as real and down to earth, I think that he understands that people like it when you are real. Another thing, this guy is very intelligent his parents are intelligent. He was fortunate to have good teacers that helped nurture or sprak something in him. His sister, wow, thanks to his sister for buying that white Guitar, thats very supportive. He has an appreciaton and respect for the audience and musican

I was saying that he has a respect for the people that come to hear his music. He just taught the rest of us thats sitting at home, struggling with our dusty Guitars what to do next, learn all of the notes on the guitar, learn all of the chords, learn all of the scales, then write music. He is nice, yes and he has a command of the language, he's not the high school drop out that became a millionaire, just like his Daddy did, he finished early from High School, with brains. Thank you for shrng

I've watched all of these now. I have to say that Satch seems like such a nice down to earth guy. Alot of the big guitar guys carry a big ego with them *cough*yngwie*cough*. Satch seems like a guy who doesn't himself too seriously and just loves what he does. More power to him!

Man... this one of the most inspiring interviews I've ever watched. The thing that hits me is that many of the succesful people wether musicians or scientist have this drive to get into something from early age and work and stick with it. It is obvious that he earned his succes and I wish him a long happy and fruitful life with many records for us to enjoy. Time to learn the notes on my fretboard (normal tuning).

vtvstudios says satch is the first person to ever say anything nice about sony music... shows even more then how positive of a dude he is. no way could every musician be like him, because otherwise the whole industry of music making would be everything that we all want it to be, meaning perfect, and it would then actually be able to do all the things that we not famous people would like it to do for this world.....

For everyone hating on Satriani because they didn't think it Professor Satchifunkilus didn't sound good needs to remeber that that's not what music is all about. It's about a musician siting down and writing what he or she feels, it's truly an art. In Satriani's case (and he even said it somewhere in this 11 part interview.), he writes his music based soley on his life experiences and feelings, and if he creates an album that he is satisfied with, even if it is out of the norm, then he succeded.

I like Joe a lot! I like his music but there has been a change in his sound and the way his recordings sound. Maybe it has to do with this dynamic range he was speaking of? There's no feminine power if that makes sense? You look at the crowd and it's older white guys in hockey Jerseys. Whatever, keep rockin Joe! Play some Hendrix for your encores please. "Going Down" is so !@#$ing boring the 2000th time you hear it!
