How did Joe, being a guitar dork himself, not realize that there are countless of us players who would gladly pay him money to watch him practice and make noise.

I was a kid, like mid 90s, at study hall reading Guitar World like any Straight A student did. Reading the latest Hammett piece written by who ever. Kirk went on to say something like "Joe Satriani was my guitar teacher" And after school I rushed home to search this guy up on my 56k Dial Up modem. Saw some choppy video with 3 and 1/2 pixels and 4 bits of audio. Just ENOUGH audio that I could tell some maniac wwas playing guitar in a way I'd never heard before. Thats been like 25 years ago or something. I still don't play like that "weird bald guy Kirk told me about" Maybe one day

Iam stating the obvious Jani Lane was the heart & soul of Warrant. Jani's music / Jani's songs Jani's voice. Jani Lane was the heart & soul of Warrant. The replacment singers that Warrant have had over the years pale in comparrison to Jani's unique original singing voice. No one has since matched Jani's vocal range. RIP Jani Lane. ❤

The problems Men at Work had remind me of what went down with Creedence Clearwater Revival. A tragedy in both cases that the bands' careers were so short-lived!

I’m amazed he has never been a full time member of the Grateful Dead , tho that position (keyboards) is quite the taboo position. His style and approach is tailor made for their music . Maybe it’s a good thing he’s never been in the GD - he may not be alive today

How irresponsible they were to get Jimi drunk one night before the audition, and what if a tragedy had happened, when he drove his car in that state, and we would never have gotten to hear his beautiful voice!😭

Christopher Cross was the proverbial poster child of the ‘video killed the radio star’ thing. He & the KC guy of KC & the Sunshine Band. Go watch KC’s ‘Give it up’ then watch Madonna’s ‘Holiday’ which came out @ roughly the same time. It’s basically the same video made by 2 different people. In fact, get both videos up on a split screen. KC was ridiculous, Madonna k*lled it. That was the break right there. ´bye KC, welcome Madonna. That was IT. That was the break-off point. Sad for Christopher Cross, but he was NOT going to make it thru the MTV era. There was no way. Poor guy. Hope he’s living well on his royalties these days.

My late older brother played at the 'jam' session after Jimi Hendrix's funeral with, among others, Johnny Winter. About six years later, he recorded an album with Richard Gottehrer. That was a year after Rick Derringer wrote and recorded a song called-"I Was Just Another Punk"-with the Edgar Winter Group. Richard may have discovered my brother's band at a place called "CBGB" (the Bowery, NYC), or it may have been through a demo tape he heard. "CBGB" was the place that launch punk rock, though they were not a punk band. I was though; that is until I found Jesus. Lord, I didn't know Rick Derringer was also a Christian. I didn't know that until a few days ago. Amen.

This is an amazing interview. I didn't know that Rick Derringer was a Christian until I saw this and other 'living legends' interviews. I remember being in Westport, Ct. in 1976: One day back then, I found myself next door to Dan Hartman (he lived in Westport then in a place called 'The Schoolhouse'). He lived next door to a kindergarten teacher named Jill who was a friend of my then girlfriend. I was there one day back in 1976, listening to David Bowie's "Station To Station" album. Right after listening to the song-'Word On A Wing'-Jill asked me if I wanted to go next door and meet Dan. I ignored that question, and said-"That's a gospel song; that's Bowie singing about praying to Jesus. Play that again." I never got around to meeting Dan, but the following year my brother's band opened for the Talking Heads at a rock club in Westport called The Player's Tavern. I was with the same girlfriend, and yes, they played their version of 'Take Me To The River'. Soon after we saw Rick Derringer and his band perform at another rock club in Connecticut. The following year (1978), she dumped me for Roger Daltrey. Btw, my name is Tommy. There's more to this story and it's all true. I'm also a born again Christian, and I want you doubters out there to know that that is a true story, too!

The Fillmore East. My late older brother played The Fillmore East when he was a guitarist in The Buddy Miles Band, I saw him there, 1970, while he was opening for The Guess Who. Then later that year, my brother found himself at the 'jam' session after the funeral service for Jimi Hendrix, playing "Rock N Roll Hootchie Koo" with Johnny Winter!?

Maria, I believe we are cousins…My Grandfather was John D’Amato and died at the age of 59 around 1942. He was married to my Grandmother Maria Grimaldi Fazzino D’Amato. It was a 2nd Marriage for both of them. (They also had children from their first marriages). They had 2 children together. My Father John Anthony D’Amato and my Aunt Fay (Philomena) D’Amato. We lived in Kings County, Brooklyn until I was five years old and then we moved to upstate, New York. My father was born in 1925, so he was 17 years old when you were born, I believe, so I’m thinking perhaps my father and your father may have been first cousins and maybe our Grandfather’s may have been brothers…but I’m not sure… But I definitely believe we are related because I was told that we were when I was younger, and also I see a resemblance : )
