It might sound melodramatic, but Joe has actually made my life better: I suffer from depression, and listening to The Clash/ Joe always makes me feel so much better. I wish he was still here...

This was almost exactly 2 weeks before I saw them in Scottsdale AZ and had the unbelievable, unforgettable experience of hanging out with Joe all night until the wee hours of the morning. Along with the birth of my son and my wedding day, it was easily one of the top 3 greatest moments of my entire life. It’s all too easy to be severely disappointed when you finally get to meet one of your lifelong heroes, but in Joe’s case it was the opposite experience. He exceeded my expectations tenfold. People like him are so rare, and we as a species were damn lucky to have him in our plane of existence. He was a real gift to humanity, and his words and music will live on as long as we exist. You often hear people say that we need him here with us today, and though I couldn’t agree more with the sentiment, the fact of the matter is that he *IS* still with us, just as long as we never forget his lessons. If you’ve never seen it, I can’t recommend the Joe Strummer documentary “The Future is Unwritten” enough.

Joe is effortlessly timeless. There's a really quite beautiful message here, but it's also allegorical. The bees dying, and without the bees, the human species will perish too. It's a last call. He wasn't overt in his message, although sometimes the act was over the top. What remains are the lyrics, and they reveal all the secrets. Secrets he may not have even been aware of. Therein lies the beauty.
