Hi joe, great video as always. Services to Cambridge run semi fast between London King’s Cross and Stevenage and then run an all stops service between Stevenage and Cambridge. They run hourly off peak and half hourly in peak. Great Northern operates one service beyond Cambridge per hour in off peak and two in peak. Off peak, they operate one service to Kings Lynn from King’s Cross and that runs nonstop to Cambridge and splits there, then operates an all stops service between Cambridge and kings Lynn, then in peak, they operate a half hourly service between Kings Cross and Kings lynn which runs express to Letchworth and then forms a semi fast section between Letchworth and Cambridge (stopping at Royston in between), then running the usual stopping service between Cambridge and Kings Lynn. Also, great northern usted to terminate some services at Baldock a couple of years ago with their 365s and the reason there are bidirectional signals at Royston is because Thameslink sometimes terminate services there on weekends or during engineering works. Hope that answers all of your questions.

This is the stopper, the semi-fast (and peak fast?) services stop at Royston before Cambridge hence the board prob. I've not been on this route since the canal tunnels opened at St Panc (so this was all Great Northern at the time) but the fasts then split at Cambridge with only the the front half continuing to King's Lynn. The fasts are/were non-stop King's X to Cambridge off peak, takes about 45-50 mins. It's also the route the Queen tended to take to Sandringham each year, as that's near King's Lynn.

Has been a good watch this scenario, this is my patch in York ROC well Kings Cross to Royston. its a bit convoluted having GN and Thameslink, we just deal with GTR for the TOC as a whole for any of there services. As you say seeing how well serviced for London some of these areas are compared to Up North it is worlds apart. GTR do have a habbit of swapping the 700s and 387s depending on availability and driver competance at short notice, which does mean we have to check every consist when shunting trains on a night usually!

The 387s were on the same level as 365s before the 700s took over their service pattern.

For the 317 run you could do a return run from Cambridge or ely also if you don't already own it have you got any plans to purchase the ats Cambridge to Peterborough route anyway good video
