Hey Joe, I'm a huge Dimash fan, been following his music for the last four years. As a videographer, I suggest listening and watching 'The story of one sky' you will be so impressed, the video is more of a short film set to music. I do recommend that you watch it.Its got plenty to sink your teeth to. It lasts for just under 15 mins. Dimash is a 29-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8 off the piano). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. And this in all the different registers . His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of daily hard training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 15 languages so far). As always, enjoyable reaction. Dimash's rendition of "Ave Maria" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever listened to. This rendition touches the very core of my soul. I have watched this performance numerous times already since it premiered, and no matter how many times I have already watched it, I am still moved to tears the moment I hear the first note sung by Dimash's angelic voice. This was the final of three songs Dimash premiered in August 2021 during his appearance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He once again performed with Igor Krotoy on the piano. This is a vocalise interpretation of Schubert's "Ave Maria " 's opening vocals." Igor Krutoy composed this rendition for Dimash; it is not a cover. I read somewhere that the piece uses only three bars from the original composition and changes the fourth note to a higher note. Someone explained that Dimash called Igor Krutoy with an idea for a brand new interpretation of Ave Maria and asked him to compose the music. Dimash is said to love Gregorian choral music, which is where he got the inspiration. Igor composed the music, after which Dimash conceived these exquisite vocals. Someone else likened it to "a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (dark to light)!" Another “Dear” fittingly described Dimash’s performances like this: "Every time I hear this beautiful man sing, it feels like he punches a hole in my chest and holds my heart in his hands, holding it so gently, until he finishes singing. Then releases it and removes his hand from my chest, and I'm left with an empty, aching feeling which can only be filled by listening to him sing again! It's a beautifully tortured relationship with Dimash." The last note Diamsh sings is known as "Messa di Voce," the singing of a gradual crescendo and decrescendo on a long sustained note. Have you ever watch a cartoon couple and you see their heart jump out when they see each other? I can see you becoming Dimashified with every facial expression. He is like a drug. Once you hear him (if you like him, not everyone does), you can't go a day without watching at least 1 video. You physically get emotional (goosebumps, drooling, crying, heart tightness etc.) One thing I should tell you though, get a good noise cancelling headphone to listen, because the computers don't get all of the strings and drums in the background , so you get cheated on the songs intent. Also, have a box of Kleenex nearby cause you just never know. Being a videographer, Dimash has some great music videos to see. They are all very professionally done, and they spared nothing in quality. One of his latest works: The Story of One Sky. The music video was written and directed by Dimash over a 3 year period. He stars in it and wrote and sings all of the music. It was presented to the Pope and other religious figures recently. It is a one of a kind story.
