Hey :) So I think that what you'd want to do is have your reverb plugin on a separate aux, 100% wet, and just automate the amount of decibels that you send to the reverb channel. That's how everyone does it in Cubase I believe.

@ Thanks for your reply. I know there is an option in Cubase called "Effect-channel" but I never got this to work. But if an effect-channel is what you mean by Aux I'll look around on YT. I got many more limitations on Cubase due to my amateurish setup. I can only use 26 channels (or so) but see everyone with the same Cubase version going berserk with their amount of channels. So if my music sucks I have a good excuse LOL :-) See you around Joël ;-)

Automating post reverb will mess the tail Dynamics. Automatic pre effect won't :)

@ Great tip, thanks! However I couldn't understand the idea behind that automating pre-effect - and how that won't affect to the tail dynamics. I can't see any reverb in your STRVERB-channel in your mixer for some reason - only GGain, Patcher and Pro-Q2 :) I am using Valhalla room in the send channel in FL20 and sometimes I have automated Valhalla's decay time (like you did in this video) if I don't want too much decay (disturbing long reeverb tails) into the mix. Could you help me to understand your reverb-method ?

@@saro2431 I also had to think hard to understand this, so I will answer your question even after one year... Suppose you got 2 timpani hits, each one is one second apart. But the 2nd hit is already in a new section of the music where I want a different reverb amount. If I change the volume of the reverb output, I will be affecting the volume of the reverberation of the first timpani hit -- undesirable. If I change only the volume of the music going into the reverb algorithm, at least I do not affect the reverberation of "past sound". By the way, don't you wish Spitfire Audio knew about this? ;)

There's a difference between automating the wet bus post fader and pre fader. Automate the signal before it hits the reverb on the wet bus. You can see I have the gain plugin before the reverb. Automating the send amount is the same thing. Basically try not to automate the signal post reverb or it can screw the tails
