I saw Carrot Top a decade ago in Vegas as part of some package of tickets that the casinos were trying to time share people into. Went in not expecting much and spent virtually the whole time crying from laughing. He's a funny dude and the prop thing was only a small portion of his act at that time. Fully recommended.

Same it was a great surprise, he is totally undersold. He needs better marketing. His show is one of the best in Vegas and I've seen many spending thousands. I went twice and he actually changed it too, to current events which gave me even more respect for him.
The way Carrot Top told that story about Gene Simmons was brilliant. He told it in such a way that it leads you on to think its true as well.

I acted in a movie with Carrot Top back in 2010 for CBS filming in Las Vegas. I remember telling him while hanging out together I still remembered when he was 1st starting out way back in the 1980's when he was really young & skinny looking like a high school kid when he was unknown just starting out making a TV appearance on the Regis Philbin show (long prior to joining Kathy Lee Gifford) in the 1980's. He was impressed I remembered his early beginnings. In fact...we both started in entertainment around the same time. Indeed by the time we worked together over 12yrs ago he was really massive after having gotten into bodybuilding. Friends of mine in Vegas told me all the time they saw him in the gym constantly. I do think he looks better slimmed down some. Always loved his very unique approach to comedy based solely on props...sort of the "Bob Hope" of 1 liners where the prop i as the punchline. Definitely a very unique character who has probably long outlived most people's expectations as a comedian. I've got to hand it to him for sustaining such a long career where comedians come & go in a blink of am eye with only a handful maintaining name recognition decades later. Very interesting guy!

When I was growing up, everyone clowned carrot top and I never knew anything about him other than his long red hair and he was a comedian of some sort. He’s embraced himself and doesn’t care anymore about what people think. His comment that stuck with me was “think about the source of where the hate comes from, George Carlin saying I’m funny was all I needed to hear.” Nobody’s will say whatever they want to belittle you but guess where’s it coming from? A nobody. On the other end, George Carlin being the source is a huge difference and an absolute honor to him and you can see it.

I honestly never got to see his onstage act during those times. He had these crappy movies that conveyed him as almost like a weird al for comedy and it translate well to movies. Plus he had this super high pitch voice. But also to add to George carlins opinion. I mean he has to be some type of talented or funny to be doing this all these years and have Vegas shows.

I hung out after the show and got a chance to meet him and he was so stoked to see fans wanting to actually meet him. @@geraltofrivia3344 It's interesting that actors are known for getting tired of doing their thing and rejecting that which they do so well. Comedians, on the other hand, seem to stick with it until their very last breath. I wonder why that is?
@geraltofrivia33442 жыл бұрын
@@brianjay9811 I think prolly it’s because it’s hard enough to become a professional comic where you can pay your bills doing it. So most comics are just grateful for the chance to be working. Whereas someone like a famous actor would, I imagine, get burned out and filled with anxiety/depression constantly being under the public’s eye.
@johnbull15682 жыл бұрын
@@geraltofrivia3344 There's probably also the buzz of engaging with a live audience, which can be exhilarating. I used to do a lot of public speaking, and it was a mixture of terrifying and the best buzz ever at the same time. I suspect that's why even some of the most successful TV and movie actors occasionally do stage work, they miss that buzz.
