It’s like this. My buddy got tickets to Dave Chapelle up at his place near Dayton. Chapelle pulls out all kinds of great people we didn’t expect. First up Jimmy Fallon is here, then he pulls out John Stewart then Ashy Larry. A bunch of other decent comedians too… It’s 1230 spitting rain. He’s killing time Dave Chapelle is Just farting around-He goes I got one more. He’s a closer. Chris rock drove up from his show in Cincinnati and absolutely murdered. He made everyone there look like a amateur period. Including Chapelle. To be fair rock had been working on some material and had a polished act Chapelle was just there hosting (and funny- but not - I’m on tour funny) Chapelle had to cut him off because of curfew. Chris rock goes “I got more! “. I immediately booked tickets and saw him live in Louisville three days later. Absolutely smashing. I had second row seats and was dying the whole time I’m still laughing about the jokes. His new material is insane I might say he’s the goat

I watched the then untitled documentary about how Dave Chappelle spent the pandemic. Chris Rock spoke in this documentary about how he had been working out during lockdown. He actually bombed on stage, my opinion was that he was actualizing too much self love and he just wasn't used to it. Great to hear that he evolved into killing it again.

Ask yourself this. Why haven't they released ANY OTHER ANGLE of the slap? The Oscar stage is covered with cameras, so there are many angles to see. BUT, then only release the reverse angle which is how you film a FAKE HIT, PUNCH, KICK, etc.

He's always been fire as a comedian and can legit do serious acting roles. I remember when I was back living with my parents in 08 or 09, I was watching Rock on my PC (can't remember if it was the special when it was cutting between New York, London and Johannesburg, or the special prior to that) and I called my white baby boomer, generally stuffy conservative father (who despite his conservative demeanour, *does* have a sense of humour), into my room to show him a bit Rock had just done (don't remember the bit either unfortunately). We laughed hard together and he commented, "He's a very intelligent comic. Very good." That shows Rock's comedy works with many different people.

4:37 same applies to music - that is what made Elvis the greatest solo artist ever - during the last 50's he was being dragged everywhere but he kept going back to the soul clubs and bars in Memphis and would keep it real, riffing with Fats Domino and BB King. If you take yourself away from that raw passion ''the streets'' for comedians, the material isn't as authentic and that shows. A' la vitrine as the French say, you cant windows shop, it needs to be real.
