I saw Chris Farley a few weeks before he died. He came into the store I worked at in Chicago. He was nice, and customers lined up asking him for his autograph. As he smiled, shook hands and signed things, he was breathing heavy, he was constantly wiping sweat off his face. His suit was wrinkled. It was strange. Then, a few weeks later the news announced he'd died from a drug overdose.

I'm about the same age as you, my first time seeing the Chippendale sketch was after he died and NBC aired the 'Best of Chris Farley' special, and it made me laugh so hard...then to find out that was one of his earliest sketches that he did on SNL, at the time he was a total unknown, not a household name by any means, but he destroyed in the Swayze sketch, one of the most iconic things ever on SNL and he was a brand new performer when it happened

He didn't care about his health, he didn't care about making the world a better place, he just wanted to eat and get wasted. At the end of the day don't waste energy on some celeb who only cared about satisfying his own physical desires. That was the empty life he chose. I am in tears still to this day...he was surrounded by so many people...why didn't they take the time to talk with him about his inner feelings, possible depression, his sadness. @JDobrozsi1

@@paddymcp90that is exactly what it means. I never abused drugs but any kind of addiction is rooted in the idea that you don't feel worthy and hate yourself. Healthy people who love themselves don't destroy their lives with drugs or food or even pornography they feel accepted and even if not worthy they aren't destructive like people who are addicted to drugs. Under all that laughter and smiling was a hurting man in Chris who didn't know how to let go of it. When I was in a hospital, there was a fella there who knew Chris in College & I believe he told me how much of a Rugby Athlete Chris was back then. Sad time when Chris passed. I believe he was with two women, but I could be wrong, partying, what not, etc...Rest in peace, Chris!

They say don’t meet celebrities you look up to, but I’ve met Jay and Silent Bob. Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith were nothing short of amazing genuine people I’ve ever met. Met Kevin’s wife Jen, his assistant Meghan and her fiancé. All AMAZING people that truly appreciate your friendship/fandom and they show it. Maybe some people in Hollywood but they have some great people that you should look up to rather than someone who “may be a good person”

A lot of comedians deal with heavy depression Some people say, can’t you take anything serious ? The truth is life is hard and there’s so much suffering and comedians are human. They don’t think everything is a joke But the joke takes away the pain

I would've looked forward to Farley furthering his career doing dramatic roles. The right role in the right film and better career moves, he could've pulled off Oscar level performances. If Sandler could do it with Punch Drunk Love and Uncut Gems, Farley would've been a force.

The scene in Tommy Boy, when he’s at the gas station getting hosed down by Rob Lowe, dancing and singing “I’m a maniac”, was filmed at the corner of Main & Davis in Newmarket, and my friends and I used to live in a house right down the street from there before it was torn down, and we used to get drunk and go re-enact that scene there literally just to honour Chris Farley in a way that we absolutely nobody else ever could haha 😊 Friggin imagine if he was still around making movies today. The movie Grown Ups actually would have been funny lol.

Same thing with Artie Lange. You need to want to get clean. No one can force you or convince you until you want it. I had a serious drug problem and got clean in 1994 and never looked back , however I have several friends, well drug friends that are all gone today because they just did not want help. I literally can name a dozen ppl who I was really close to while doing drugs that are gone now. It's really sad as some of them I saw such talent and potential that if they got clean , who knows how successful they could have been today

@@brianstone3722 If you have to wonder if they're your friends, then they aren't. It's a hard part of life, but losing people is something we have to deal with. Sometimes we have to move on from people. It's hard, but we all have to make our own path and if you want to get clean, you will have to focus on yourself and leave your friends unfortunately. Good luck to you...
