I don't understand the obsession england fans have with 4-3-3, especially considering how weak the defense looks coming into the tournament. I'd give 3-4-2-1 a go. This formation is not negative at all, Leverkusen went unbeaten this season using, battering some teams along the way. But it's incredibly reliable defensively providing protection with an additional center-back. If I were to pick England's best 11, it would look sth like this. GK - Pickford 3 CB - Walker, Stones and someone out of Konsa/Guehi/Gomez(I'd pick Gomez) 2 ATTACKING fullbacks: Trent and Saka. Saka played in that position in the past and I've seen him be really good in tracking back supporting defenders. Out of possession, their only task would be to keep the shape and left and right sided CBs would give these boys a back up. Midfield: Bellingham and Rice. Bellingham played everywhere this season, not just as a ten. He's a complete midfielder who can score a goal, has tremendous stamina, wins the ball well etc. It's not a necessity to makes him a 10. Front three: Kane, Palmer and Foden. Important to note that the latter two are not wingers, they're number 10s. It allows to incorporate Palmer and Foden into the same team after having incredible season while also putting them in their preferred positions. And Kane of course would be up top. It's the best tactic for England in my opinion, it allows to put the best players onto their best position, it solves England's problems in the back, giving the best possible chance to win an international tournament
