Those familiar w/ Hajime No Ippo (the games and/or manga) know about Ippo's first "special" punch, and here is a short vid of the punch being done by the man who invented it.

also, Tyson used the dempsey roll as a good defense to dodge and weave punches, and when he attacked, he destroyed the guard first and then went on to the head. anyways, Hajime No Ippo is the shit!! Go Ippo!

It was the last uppercut. The one where the crowd wild when he missed

The only other person I've seen use that wide, sweeping uppercut with the right hand was Alexis Arguello, who used it either as a punch to the solar plexus or one to the chin, depending. He'd mix it up though. Also Rafael Limon, but he threw all his punches like that, not like Arguello who'd know when to use a sweeping uppercut.

After watching the anime I started reading Hajime no Ippo manga, and I was like "Oh, nice, they mention Eder Jofre!" This mention is missing in the anime.

except that "dempsey roll" is something made by the Manga... Actually Tyson and Dempsey share similarities in fighting style as both of them were swarmers. Although Tyson's peek a boo defense is a little different from Dempseys defensive apporach.

What is the big effin deal with this uppercut? Nowhere near connecting and wasted energy.
