I saw our family fields in the village for the first time - Life of Haryana farmers

During our visit to my husband's village in Haryana, I got to see the Indian farm life firsthand. Vinod's family are agriculturalists and they have their ancestral lands in the village of Mandholi Kalan in Bhiwani district. I too grew up near a farm in Finland and I was excited to see the difference between the two countries. The farmers in the northern states of India are currently protesting against the Farm Laws of the governments, and I think this visit provided me a window into the whys. The state relies heavily on agri business and is one of the biggest wheat producers in India. As we passed through the village alleys I got to see the everyday life of these people in between harvest and sowing seasons. We also visited mummy's sister and her family on the way. It was quite an adventure though, as our car got stuck in the sand and we had to walk half a km in the sand!

This just made me realize that how lucky we Kerallites are in terms of the favorable climate for the farming and sadly how less we are doing anything about it. we have about close to 50 rivers, 6 month long monsoon and good means of transportation and other stuffs yet nobody wanna do the hard work, rather want the big white collar jobs. Big kudos to the brave hearted hard working Hariyanvi farmers!!!

Hi Anoop farming with small size is not profitable in kerala. Even in North tenets do farming not the landlords. Next level of development kerala will work on farming that could make better remuneration than job's. Still state not started reforming higher education and after that next level will happen farming reformation.

True. But why do, including you and me are doing farming taking land on lease if we don't have land to posses? Have you thought about it? The reason is we want easy and quick money and more of it. The people in Haryana, Tamilnadu, Andhra work hard and are happy and content with their minimalist living. They are able to make some profit so that they can eak out a living. New farm law will force them to quit farming and look for white collar job like you and me. So what will happen to their land. They will be owned by Banks as the will not be able repay the loan. What will the Banks do? They will auction it. Who will buy it? Those who have money. Who has money? Those who own bussiness houses receiving government discount and favour. What they will do with land. They will start real estate or do farming of their choice using machinery and a bit of organised farming. Great Video nevertheless, her passion to learn more and understand her in-laws their life and land is highly appreciated.❤️👍🙏

@@rizle1 Have you gone through the farm bill? What is the motive for this agitation except political? You guys are andh bhatks of jihadis and communists who want to destroy our farming and divide the country. You communists already killed Kerala's agriculture activities due to their faulty implementation of land reforms which curtailed the land holding to such an extent that farming activity was no longer profitable. In addition to this, due to continuous agitation for increase in wages (kerala labor earns up to 800 rupees for 6 hours of work with very little output whereas situation in other states is totally different). The new farm law is aimed at helping the small and marginal farmers and not rich farmers and the commission agents who eat up the income of small and marginal farmers.

I love how your face lit up when talking about nephew touching your feet. Your joy was so real and I can feel how you felt accepted when he addressed you as chachi. God bless you both, Also, younger members of the family should be touching your feet, Kids and the like. Just as you touch the feet of your elders. And that is why Vinod's nephew touched your feet. You are from an elder generation to him. Next time one someones touches your feet, just say, "jug jug [Yes, jug is to be said twice] jiyo." It means that you are blessing him with a long life.

Haha, I'll try to remember those words if this ever happens to me again! :D The age gaps in our family are so huge that it's difficult for a foreigner to understand, who is a cousin, who nephew, who mausi... :D Vinod's 2 youngest mausi are basically his age, but then again he has some distant nephews/nieces that are older to him!

Being an Indian, I have never been to Haryana, and thus thanks for showing me the village life of Haryana. In India, Agriculture depends mostly on Monsoon, well at least for other States. In regards to Rice, huge Water is needed, and therefore, South India and some North Eastern States excel on the same. Touching Feet is something that comes out of Respect and in India, almost all areas have this custom. You should have touched their Head in form of Blessings.

I can't really say for sure on behalf of the tenants who take care of our fields, as they handle the sales on their own and get the profits - after their "rent" is paid to us. I assume a part goes to the local area customer and the rest to these "mandis" where the produce is sold to the govt. Gardening your own plants and veggies is definitely very rewarding! We're also now trying to set up our own garden at home with the help of Mommy :)

I would say that we Indians take our relationships ethics seriously. If someone does not abide simple rules, like touching feets of elders (even the elder person is distant in relation), he will immediately been guided by his mother, father or other family members to pay respect by way of touching the feets.

Thank you Nasha :) Unlike some other replies might lead you to understand, "rich" farmers are quite a limited group in India. Mostly people are either marginal or small farmers, some doing quite well and some less, but definitely wouldn't be considered rich. Small/marginal farmers might seem like they're doing really well in life if their main income is from a source unrelated to farming - which is the case for many in my large Indian family :)

Invest on borewell and a pond. Start growing cash crops. Everything is subsidised for agri and no tax for farm income. You can 20lakhs easily every year. Gurugram is very near. You guys have left huge resource.

Earning 20 lakhs needs atleast 40 acres of land i would imagine i.e. atleast 6-8 crores of investment.

@ujwalmokashi6702 3 жыл бұрын
@@mandeepbrar1979 nope. It requires 5-6 acres. 20-40 lakhs investments. Depends on what you grow. Grow cash crops not rice and wheat

@@ujwalmokashi6702 where do you buy 5-6 acres in 40 lakhs? Even Rajasthan doesn't seem to have those rates. No part of Haryana goes below 20 lakhs per acre... pricier ones go for 80 lakh plus. Which cash crop are you talking about? Extremely experimenting farmers doing strawberry farming seem to make 2 lakhs an acre

@@ujwalmokashi6702 yeah if you have money or land ... There are many opportunities that can make you lot of money. If you have a shop worth 8 crore.. that can easily make you 5 lakh a month.

Unfortunately covid kept us from visiting Finland when we had planned to, and in the current situation it is also impossible to know when my mom&sister would be able to come to India

Nice to see farms, can see how hard farmers have to work. Looks like a dry arid land, must be difficult to grow. In Europe it rains more than enough to grow, but there is also freezing weather.

No comparison with Europe. Most of the Haryana is blessed with excellent environment to grow any kind of crop.

Another fine video. I quite enjoyed the tour of the girls school also. Very cheerful painting. The cultures are so different. Here the mothers want to keep daughters close. An old saying. A son is a son til he takes a wife, a daughter is a daughter the rest of her life. Here mostly daughters take care of our elderly. In India do you have/ take special vitamins now?

It’s the same in Finland when it comes to sons and daughters 🙂 I take iron (incl. folic acid, B12, c-vit.) and calcium (incl. D-vit) as prescribed by my doctor for pregnancy
