You really did your homework for this interview, didn't you? Amazingly well thought out questions! Different than anything we've heard so far and John was visibly pleased to be asked about topics he'd never had the chance to talk about. He couldn't get the smile off his face when he talked about his childhood and young years. If you keep this up your channel might even become the go-to channel for armwrestling. I really believe it!

It's just amazing that John doesn't understand how much he is respected by the fans and other armwrestlers. He doesn't need to create content. People will tune in just to hear him talk about his experiences, matches, training, the early days of the sport...etc. I think he feels he needs to be super charismatic like Devon, but he really doesn't. People see John and they click to watch

I got into arm wrestling fairly recently after coming across some random Schoolboy video. Looked into it a little deeper, came across Devon pretty quickly, and was hooked, so to speak. Naturally at some point I became aware of John's status in the sport and this sort of time-of-the-titans that existed around 10 years ago is really fascinating. Agree 100% that it is a privilege to get to see these guys still pulling in real time. All these comeback series are some of the most exciting things happening in arm wrestling, and they make what's happening with the new breed that much more interesting, as we pull for them to supersede the living legends. Otherwise, as dominant as Levan is currently, I dunno, arm wrestling might not be as interesting right now.
@egroegartfart
@egroegartfart Жыл бұрын
Ummmm. You copied how I got into it exactly. Lol. That is funny. I saw schoolboys videos wrestling people in public just one after another. I just remember thinking how crazy that was that someone could arm wrestle 20-30 people and then at the end of the videos he was arm wrestling huge guys. Then of course from watching school boy videos Devon's videos started popping up in my feed. I knew nothing about any of these guys. Then mmt. Then Ryan. And this channel. Then I learned about John and it just grew from there. But I was hooked on arm wrestling just from schoolboys videos. And that was two years ago. Before all of these east vs. west and everything. Then Michael Todd started talking about his north American tour and he wanted places to stop and I came up with the bright idea that it would be frickin awesome if he stopped in Ohio and arm wrestler the Amish. We have the largest Amish community in the world. And those boys are just naturally frickin huge. Without working out. Because they start working out at 4 a.m. every single day until it gets dark. The girls are huge also. They're just built different. I thought in my stupid head it would be a great way to find new talent. Lol. So I sent Michael a message. And he thought it was a great idea too. I couldn't believe he actually got back to me. Told me to set it up and let him know. So I went right to work. Printed up hundreds of flyers. Went to Amish country at least ten times talking to the Amish. Talking to all the shops. There was a lot of interest. About half of them though just laughed at me and said they would not do something like that. But the word was out. The radio station put it on air for a few weeks. It was all set. I was so excited. It was so much work. I have a new appreciation for even organizers and promoters. I did both jobs. Lol. So Michael shows up on the day. And there's literally five people there for the event. I was like.,....ok, it's early. There's going to be tons of people. Lol. Luckily right before it started the Cleveland arm wrestling club shows up with about ten arm wrestlers. Thank God. They saved the day for me. But not one Amish person showed up. Zero. Lol. On one hand I couldn't believe it. A lot of the Amish people acted interested to my face but on the other hand I probably should have known they wouldn't do it because of the cameras and everything. They don't like to be in the limelight. All of those Amish shows on t.v. are completely fake btw. And Amish person would never do a t.v. show. So I learned my lesson. Thank goodness for the Cleveland arm wrestling club that saved the day. But I was so embarrassed that the reason Michael was coming didn't work out. But still it was a great time. I'm so grateful that those guys drove down an hour and a half to arm wrestle that day. And they invited me to come up anytime I want to go practice with them. The arm wrestling community is one awesome group. All of you. But that was my intro to arm wrestling. Oh. Great interview btw. Thank you.

It takes time to build and grow a national or globally recognized brand/sport. It takes big personalities and big sponsorship from companies and big advertising dollars to reach the kind of level that we see with other sports. this would be a good poll. How many people that pay for the pay-per-view are actually arm wrestlers? It would be good to find out how many of your followers are fans and not just other arm wrestlers

What's missing in arm-wrestling to make it big like cricket? I think it is partly knowledge. Most people who enjoy watching a sport have tried it at school or gone to a club at some point. Arm-wrestling is not a sport you are introduced to at school so you have not tried it yourself. I have started going to an arm-wrestling club to understand arm-wrestling better so that I can enjoy it as a sport and not just to see my favourite giant crushing arm-wrestler (John) do the impossible. I am starting to understand the small intricacies that you miss when you haven't tried it. (I am actually making training videos on youtube with me as the student 💪😃 ) Like John, I'm not drawn to baseball or cricket, but neither have I played it or I really understand it, so I guess I will be missing something when watching it. In short, if more people tried arm-wrestling with a coach I think it could gain more traction.
