2019 1025R TLB with 180 hours. I used a drag harrow to loosen up some soil in an area where I had dug a trench. After the harrow, I switched to a box blade to make a swale. All told, it was about 6 hours of ground engaging work in 4WD all in one day. That night, both front wheel seals started leaking. They were replaced under warranty. No issues since. Hit the garage door with the ROPS one day when the door didn’t raise all the way up. Tractor was fine, but need a new section of garage door.

There is a kit to make the fill cap a cap/breather instead. The seals leak due to fluid and air expansion from heat build up, with no space for the expasion. The breather solves the problem. You'll have to hit up the Google to find it because for the life of me, I can't remember who makes it.

I have a 2018 and in December of 2021 I noticed I had a puddle of hydraulic fluid under the rear axle. I looked under the tractor and the bottom of the transmission \ rear end was wet - I took it to the dealer and I was sweating bullets on what it would cost and asked them to give me an estimate before working on it and they called me a week later and said it was all fixed and they said John Deere picked up the tab. They ended up having to tear the whole back end of the tractor apart and replaced a bunch of parts in the rear . And in another surprise a week or so after I received it back I went to replace the air filter and noticed they upgraded my air filter box and filter with the new and improved one. And I thought to myself this is why I own and will always own a John Deere because of the customer service

PS… on getting in and out of that garden door, use some flat cement blocks & stagger them on both sides and you will have the clearance needed to get in & out…Chief

The JD1025R is a great little machine. I got mine in 2020 (2019 model I think), and I have had ZERO issues with it. Every now and then I think about a bigger tractor but once I realize that I can get by with this gem, I am content again. I am happy to hear that you have had minimal issues with your tractor also. Keep up the great videos.

A good review of the things to be aware of… On the loaner 1025r I have the unit was purchased in 2018 & there is only about 60hrs on it… I keep a floating charger on the battery due to the cold climate we are in. The unit also has a block heater on it… Last trip up to the camp I plugged in the unit getting it ready for the next snow & when i went to unplug it, the pig-tail just fell off. It seems that the unit is connected with pins at the block & you need to put a zip-tie on that pig tail just to make sure it does not come loose & “Hasta La Vista” to that part..Stay Safe Buddy & God Bless…Chief..{NYS/ADK}

2017 1025R, ~250 hrs - In 2020, required new rear transmission housing seal (leaked) and upgraded air filter assembly - both covered by warranty. use a seat cover, but have noted arm rests have cracks, will need eventual replacment. Loader , plow, wood chipper and MMM are great. No other issues. Fortunate noted issues under warranty. love the tractor....

Check your steering piston ball joint boot on the front left side of the tractor(underneath). Mine split sometime within the first 31hrs of the tractor life. I notified the dealer and they are looking into a fix.

Have enjoyed your videos, watch many of them. Helped me decide on the JD 1025r with backhoe which was delivered last Friday spent a few hours clearing 8'' or 9'' of wet snow yesterday which would have really been a chore for my JD 445 with blower. Keep the videos coming!!

Everything I've done to my tractor and implements has all been caused by me LOL. I don't have a green tractor, but I haven't really had any trouble. Right after delivery I noticed a few hydraulic fluid drips but initially couldn't find where it was coming from. Then a few days later the drips were more frequent, then became enough of an issue that I finally found the culprit...a hydraulic line on the side of the transaxle was just loose...tightened that down and haven't had an issue since. Most of my issues are the lack of enough rear ballast for loader work...I have almost tipped the tractor over several times due to the lack of ballast...I need a ballast box because the roto-tiller and box blade aren't heavy enough LOL. I have a mid-mount mower, and was mowing at a friend's place last year and at some point one of the deck wheel pins fell out and the gauge wheel and the adjustment arm fell off, I didn't realize it until I heard the banging from under the mower....it shot that wheel and arm assembly 50+ feet across the yard...destroyed the deck wheel and took a large chunk out of the adjustment arm as well which is steel. It also bent part of the mower deck causing the blade to hit the deck. Ordered a new wheel and adjustment arm assembly as well as a replacement pin and clip...straightened the lip of the deck back out and back in business, but it was like the 2nd time I had ever used the mower and had that happen so I was quite upset about it, and still am as the deck will never be the same after that mess.

I slit a rear wheel while mowing. There was some steel in the back in the weeds from building a metal building. I had to buy two rear tires to replace the one.

My loader mounted snow plow had the same early pins yours did. I was going to get a couple new pins to have on hand. No need to now. I traded the blade I never really liked to the dealer for a Frontier grapple. I have already used the grapple more than I ever did the blade. The blade on my X738 does great.

I drive two Massey Fergusons, but just bought a used 1023e, thank you for your videos, I truly enjoy them. On the rubber strip issue you mentioned, there are two things you can try that will work pretty well; 1. Rubberized roof patch, comes in a can and in a tube. It is good at holding rubber or rubber based material to metal. 2. This is probably a lot more money, but an automotive store will have a polyurethane caulking used to set windshields. This is like automotive polygrip. :-) It will work really well. Good luck, God Bless, safety first, you can glue or fix everything else.

Also yes get 3m weatherstrip adhesive. It will glue on your door seal and the boots on your backhoe.

I ran into a few warranty problems. The shifter was loose but the linkage was tight; the transmission had an assembly defect that fractured a bearing mount in the transmission. That was a six week fix and even drew questions from corporate since replacing a transmission is expensive work. A couple of bad cylinders got replaced. My consistent problem is with the backhoe control levers and it has nothing to do with the adjustment screws. The control plate that operates the valves has four threaded fingers that stick up and the control handle is threaded into those. Once in position, a cotter key is inserted between the fingers and through a hole in the handle and a jamb nut is threaded down on the finger tips. Problem is that, over time, the fingers spread from the stress and the handles jump threads making them loose again. Trying a screw type hose clamp around the fingers to stop the spreading; ok so far.

Had front flat tire twice. Had to put tube in and no problems since. Biggest one so far was getting off tractor to the right and my shorts pant leg caught hydraulic stick and snapped it off at thread base. Was in middle of clearing sod for new barn. I seen thread size was 3/8 and went to Menards and got 12 in threaded rod and cut to 8 inches for ease and comfort and worked great. Still waiting on part since September.

I think they make a real weather strip adhesive, 3M, or you may get away with some rubber cement.

That blower circuit should be switched with the ignition, just like head lights and other accessories on a piece of equipment.

7 year old 1025R...... Lights on ROPS have given me heartburn several times. Moving them inside ROPS & finishing trails in woods has helped the situation. Still think they could / should be smaller. Narrow & mounted flat on ROPS ?

haha. This is me. If something has a chance of happening, it's going to. It never fails I have to do 3 other things just to start the 1 thing I wanted to do. The one tool I need is never where it was when I put it away, then after the job I find all 4 of them since, you know, it's easier to just go buy another one than it is too keep looking for the one you have. You just have to laugh when a 15 minute job turns into a 6 hour project.....All the best to ya and keep the vids coming.

I am new to tractors. 2nd time removing the backhoe, did the same thing. Since tractor was less than a year old I walked into the dealership with the seat in hand. A few days later I walked back out of the dealership with the bracket replaced. No charge. Great customer service. Lucky me.

My Brushcrusher has several bends in it, better it bends than the loader arms. Also broke my neutral switch running a brush hog. Did some creative wiring to fix that. Broke one of the tail light bolts while the same tree was bending the grab handle. 1025R 305 hrs
