John Deere 3025D with 6' Rotary Cutter

Trying out this cutter behind the 3025D. This cutter has been well abused. I'm still torn on which one to purchase. Since I can use this one I will but if I was to purchase one I may choose the 5'. If I was cutting brush thicker than what was in this video I think the 5' would be a better choice. It would be easier to keep the PTO RPM and blade speed. This is all in my opinion.

Good stuff. After watching all your vids you sold me. Taking delivery of my own 3025D this weekend along with 60" rotary cutter and box blade.. Seems like a capable little tractor indeed. Funny story, did all the dealing over the phone and when I went to sign the papers I noticed they had written up a 3025E instead. Spent another hour while they corrected that. Will keep me busy on my little 20 acre spread.

I run a 5’ bush hog behind mine, can’t really tell it’s back there, I run the back of the cutter a little higher than you were, gives it plenty of room to throw the clippings out. The tractors are tough little units for sure!!

I went with a five footer for my 3025d. The size fits my property better, but given more open fields it seems a six footer would work just fine. Tks,

I also have a 3025D. I run a Frontier rc2060 on it that I purchased from agpro. It's only rated to cut 1" thick material but I have absolutely demolished thickets of volunteer pine trees that were sometimes twice that thick with it. The only time it seems to bog down is on really tall really thick grass. You can watch the RPM's fluctuate while cutting. I think this is just a drawback of only having 20 PTO HP.

I will agree with that. I still think that these tractors do very well for the hp that they have.

I'm late to the party, but I agree with the commentor who mentioned the condition of the blades. New blades might be a reasonable option to improve performance and reduce vibration!! Keep up the good work, love your video's. My 3025E is coming in a couple of weeks. Yeah I know; went with the "hydro"!! I'm sure the gear drive transmission would deliver more power for hauling the rotary cutter, but I am worried, being in my 70"s, that it would be harder for me to manage when using the loader. I use the loader much more than the rotary cutter.

Better late than never. I can understand why you chose the hydro. I agree the blades are in terrible shape. I think I will use this cutter for unknown areas (hidden rocks) since it has been beaten up before I started using it.

That's an impressive Tractor. I Have a 2016 model JD 2025R and it works great. No Emissions but mine is Hydro so it has the whine. LOL I am thinking of Buying another JD and I am really liking this one you have. But with getting anything anymore It will take months to get it

The D model tractors just feel a lot stronger than the hydro tractors, I’m completely happy with mine!

@@tacratt6091 This is the tractor I would have bought if they made it when I bought mine in 2017. I think it’s time for a second tractor lol

@@1974webby you can’t have to many tractors! I’ve got 3, lol. One is a 1960 Ford 641, I plow and bush hog with it some, the gas tractors are just expensive to run!

@@rsmstuff3178 It would say "I think I can, I think I can" ... then stall out in the thick stuff.. I have a 2019 JD 3025D with a 6ft rotory in barely better shape than yours. It'll handle heavier brush just fine, but thick pasture grass will really bog it down. It is a rugged little tractor, but HP is limited - I wouldnt go much larger on the mower unless you groom on a regular basis and dont let the grass get too tall.
