Andy "aTrippyFarmer" Dole is a 6th generation farmer from Central Illinois. On this farm, Andy works alongside his father, Marty, his uncles, Chris and Jeff, and his sister, Katie, to grow corn and soybeans on some of the finest dirt in the world. Andy and his family are deeply rooted in the area, operating a large farm that traces it origins back into the 1800s. Although some tracts did not stand the test of time, Andy and his family still grow corn and soybeans on fields that have been in the family for longer than even the oldest members of the farm have been alive. We do, we have, and we always will take tremendous pride in calling this piece of paradise our home. Andy was a Bronze Tablet graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Crop Sciences, following the same path as his father and late grandfather.
It would be misleading for Andy to claim that this life is one that came by chance; rather, as a member of two multi-generational farm families, it was simply in his blood. His passion for agriculture traces back to his early youth--some of his fondest, earliest memories being of days spent riding in the combine with his father and grandfather. Although his understanding of the lifestyle was much less complex in the beginning, the love he has for farming, and its industry has only appreciated through time. As this dream blossomed into adulthood, Andy now works relentlessly, and tirelessly, to chase his own dreams and to build a farming operation of his own alongside his family.
We, as a whole operation, are handymen, electricians, mechanics, landscapers, accountants, economists, caretakers, stewards, and, most importantly, farmers, and we take an incredible amount of pride in our work. There is no challenge too overwhelming, no situation too stressful, and no problem too difficult for us to take on, and we want to take you along with us. Welcome to our farm and welcome to our lives. You have the best seat in the house to watch the everyday chaos of farming unfold--we usually only get concerned when things aren't going wrong!

I’m a retired farmer and its nice to see the enthusiasm you have with your farm. I am old school and not sure I could handle all the electronics you rely upon. We used to set sieves by walking behind the combine catching the debris out the back to check our settings along with a hand harvesting and chewing to test moisture. I think what you have is better however. I farmed tree fruits and field crops in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, a different kind of farming. Nonetheless, keep up the good work, enjoyable from here is the comfort of my easy chair.!

The Aussie contractor here again. Although I’m a livestock farmer I have grown grain before. During our wheat harvest here half hour waits are a godsend and 4 to 6 hour does happen. The bigger silos (what we call elevators) will run 24/7 at peak The only day they won’t open is Christmas Day. In a big harvest they will open on Boxing Day. And yes I have harvested crops on Christmas Day

Marty needs “Thunnnder”(Zach Johnson). You asked awhile back about a wind system for beans. All the guys that have them said they’d never go back, Chet just used his Crary system to blow a grain cart pile of beans that went into a truck & right out through an open gate in the field back into the combine. They all say it catches up to a bushel & 1/2 per acre. BUT, it uses a lot of power. What would the 86 bushel field had been + 1.5 extra bushels per acre? You’re the master of logistics, profit/loss analysis, factoring in added power usage/fuel & implement cost would it be beneficial? All I know, is every farmer who has one said they’d never combine beans without one again. Cole’s been demoing a JD combine without one this harvest, he’s the numbers guy of that operation, few vids back he showed all the beans laying on the cutting bar & went over the numbers. Made me think of you.

Dad and I have been griping about it for the last 2 seasons. They were a great elevator until they started flooding it with their own transfer trucks…We are just 5 miles north of neoga on a lot of our acreage. We can haul 15 miles the other direction and get back in 30 minutes less at a minimum. Sometimes the trucks are at neoga for an hour plus. Unfortunately for them, our other options are not TGM elevators, so they are losing bushels. I wish they’d get it figured out… thanks for the comment!
