Belt came off my new E-140 yesterday. The manual was not helpful. Spent and hour on the ground trying to figure it our. Found your video on You Tube and it was your explanation about the pulleys, the wrench sizes, and most importantly, the overview shots of how the belt was to be routed that helped me out of a jam and saved me hours as well as dollars. Thanks wolf man

I went to change the blades and noticed the belt was tearing. Checked out your video and decided I could replace the belt myself, even though I'm not that handy. You made it very easy to tackle the job. Thank you.

Thanks man for posting this vid! The belt popped this past Sunday, got a new one from Amazon and installed it this evening. Before watching this, I had no idea how the belt was ran. Worked perfectly! 👍

Great video but I would have liked to see you loosen a pulley and wiggle the belt on. Show how much you have to loosen it to clear the guides.

Jewell u only have to loosen it until the belt will go on. It’s quite easy really. I could have said take off the pulley bolt off.... but you would see it’s not really required to do so. Give it a go and let me know. Good luck 👍🏽

Great video, However, it is possible to change your belt without loosening the pulleys. I have done it twice on my D140 & D160

I didn’t know that..🤔i has tried many a time but the belt is to thick to fit in between bar a pulley wheels. Especially the top front hook steel frame...???? Interesting. Would love to know how so I can try it. Many thanks 😊 👍🏽

wolfeman1966 I did it today. I figured since the belt came off it had to go back on. So I got the belt behind the guidepost, held it tight and turned the pulley. It worked! Your video was helpful. I said a ton of prayers and watched about 5 KZfaq videos and between them all I was able to get my mower deck belt back on.

Me too, but you need to remove the metal guard around the center front pully

I should have said grease nipples not oil ... but i English and we call the nipples in the north.😂👍🏽

Thanks for your time. Belt broke today and would you believe I can NOT find a place to download the manual? My hearing is too bad to use the phone and call for one even if i was willing to wait. Obviously the English language is a dynamic, changing thing and if I google "John Deere Stellar Service" I wonder what I will see? I wish customer service would stop evolving; I liked it the way it used to be.

I’ve yet to see anyone show how to get the blade pulleys off. I took the nut off the top but cannot get the pulley to come off. So I can’t put a belt back on without bending the guides to slide the belt on.

You don't need to take the nut off, just loosen it enough to lift the pulley a bit so you can put the belt on.

Once the nut has been removed or even loosened to the point where it is just barely on the bolt the pulley should lift up. But sometimes in my experience it takes a good amount of effort and rocking the pulley a bit to get it to lift up enought to slip the belt in - good luck
