Part 2 of getting the corn harvested in the mud. This time not only did the tractor get stuck, but the chopper got stuck also. It took 2 tractors to pull it out. But in the end, we were able to finish 2023 corn silage harvest.
Thanks for watching!

A few weeks behind on the videos. This brings back some bad memories. In the 70s/80s we had more than a few very wet falls. We had mostly heavy red/blue clay soils! Two row pull type harvester, 150 hp FWA tractor on it. Much of it had another big 2 wheel drive pulling in front. Two years we chopped all the corn after the ground froze. No processor, 1 1/2 screen. Luckily fuel was cheap back then! (2 20by65s and topped of 25 by 80 Harvestore) 👨🏻‍🦳 🐄🐄🐄 🚜

That was good for showing the frustration of getting the job done in the mud. That was a great video of how you all work together. You all helped each other and you did not blame others. . . . and I noticed that you still served hamburgers that evening for supper. That was impressive. Your family does not likely want to hear this but the video is a blessing to others. Thank you.

Yes ma'am, that was one soft area y'all got in, but I think Kevin handled it good. I can see that all three of you were getting a little concerned about the situation, but Kevin came up with a fix to get through it. Well that's just what us farmers do when we run into a problem, find ways to work around or through it. Good job, thanks for sharing, I hope everyone has a great week ahead!

Nice job you guys. Ethan is a good operator. I've been in that situation so many times, Kevin does a nice job keeping his cool even though you can tell he's irritated. Ronda you do a good job getting the whole thing on video on top of everything else your trying to do. That was really nicely executed. To people just watching this on video and never have done it, it's easy to try and give advice or put their two cents in but it's not easy when you're there doing it, thinking about the cost of your equipment and your crop you're trying to get in on time etc.

Wow what a struggle with the mud. Even the cool calm and collective Kevin let his frustration show. Frustration can turn to anger and a short fuse. The anger can be directed at whoever is available. Thanks for sharing this video. It's got to be a good feeling to have next year's silage made. I still am thankful for rain, and will take it over drought any day.

This is why you need a 100' of 3/4 cable and that way the person that is pulling you isn't in the Same Ruts and Mud as well and usually can stay in the dryer Areas and also At the Farm Auction's those Very Cable's go Dirt cheap and nobody is buying them and think about the how heavy they are but I don't have to go ahead and carry it to the stuck vehicle, I usually just let it drag behind me on the road till I get there and By then it's nice and shiny to be seen and a Great investment.....

When this happened on Laura Farms, they brought out that great big Yankum Rope and boy was that rope strong. It could lift tons in a dead lift and it sure could easily beat that extremely heavy chain. Maybe a drainage ditch would lower the water table to allow that part of the field back to usable self again.

When I was a teenager on a dairy farm we had falls like that. Chopping with 2 tractors hooked together on a pull type chopper, still couldn't go, Dad had to buy a 3 point hitch chopper that fall. Thrashing around in the mud slows things down bad and can get expensive.

Sure is a real pain when there’s a lot of mud but you guys were good together as a family and you get the things done no matter what yeah sometimes tempers get a little heated but that’s OK it’s understanding and in the end you guys get it done and that’s the most important that you work together as a family hope to see more videos wish your videos were longer at a time truly do enjoy seeing everyone working together. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to show some more you know you might even consider getting you a GoPro that you can either put on your head or one you can mount on your chest and that way you wouldn’t have to hold the camera. It would just be wherever you are just an idea.
