What a talented man John was. When he died in the plane crash, the world lost not lost not only an singer and entertainer, but also a man who was ahead of his time in caring about the environment. John cared about animals, nature and the earth whether it was on land or life forms in the oceans. He was out to help protect it. When John died, it was a major loss to the world. Rest in peace John Denver.

indeed. i miss him so much, and would have loved to have seen what he could do the rest of his life. I saw him in concert in an outdoor amphitheater in California in 1984. He was somewhat sad, as he shared about his divorce from Annie. I was surprised he could get through singing Annie's Song. I'll never forget that concert. What a beautiful man.

I was privileged to see him in concert 3 times. It broke my heart that a couple of years before his death he claimed that people no longer liked his music. His success came at a price. Seemed like such a gentle man. What a great talent I loved his music from the get go when I first heard him. Saw him in concert at Red Rocks Colorado, and at the Valley Forge Music fair in 96. My wife and I were in Carmel Cal at the Hogs Breath Restaurant having an early dinner when word came down that John Denver was just killed after his experimental aircraft crashed into the bay. I am almost sure about this, that in one interview he said that what he had was a gift. and he knew it. He was aware of that. I miss him like anything. I took my parents in the early 90's to see his Christmas concert on Long Island. My father was a VERY discriminating person. He stood up and cheered at the concert's end. because whatever he did, it was quality. He knew his concerts were geared toward being perfect. He was truly the steward of a "gift" from God. But---his broken heart was his own stupid fault. He didn't have to cheat, and cheat, and cheat......on Annie. He didn't have to do that. but he was an imperfect human, as we all are. God Bless.
@DellaStreet123
@DellaStreet123 4 жыл бұрын
@@annasteffiesolenick9732 Well, according to his book, he "had to". Throughout the book, he comes up with various explanations for his behavior. After sheepishly admitting that there had been "innocent amours" before, he cited the emptiness of a hotel suite after a concert as a reason for indulging his "romantic inclinations". The next time, it was because he had been seduced, by Jerry Weintraub's secretary, for example. Then he seems to have a need to compensate for some emptiness in his life with hedonism on tour, which includes drinking champagne and picking up women. Then, steering toward the end of his marriage with Annie, he has a semi-serious affair ("more than hello and goodbye") and makes it sound like he was looking out for someone who values him more. By the time he is frustrated in his marriage with Cassie, it sounds like: If you are doing it, I'm doing it to. -- To put it in his own words: "Sometimes you have to be more true to yourself than to your partner in order to keep the relationship healthy. Is there a gene for mutual deceit?" I'm glad that he didn't pursue a career in marriage counseling. Well, I wasn't born yesterday, I know how men are wired. While it's true that they think with their pricks (I never met an exception), they also have a masochistic side. They are drawn toward women who treat them like shit.

When John sang this beautiful song at the Waikiki Shell at Kapiolani Park in early 1997, I don't believe there was a dry eye anywhere in the audience of people in lawn chairs or sitting on beach blankets on the grass in front of the stage. I think that even the birds in the park may have stopped singing to listen to him. And I have often wondered how he could sing it with dry eyes. And then, that October, he was gone from us forever. But thank God we can still see and hear him sing those beautiful songs like "For You", on video so good that it is almost (but not quite!) like being next to him on that stage. We miss you, John... 💔💖

I just found this song by accident just now, and with tears running down my face, I can't believe how beautiful this is, I lost my Husband of 53 yrs four year ago, and this has hit me like a ton of bricks, oh how I wish with all of my heart, I could say this to him now....Always say you love someone today, because trust me, tomorrow may be too late, and you live the rest of your life thinking why didn't I tell them..as they slip away to be with God, what a lost feeling....

I sang this song at a wedding in Connecticut, and I was let go from the band the following week. It wasn’t that I sang it so well ( I did my best to do this song justice), but it was the attention that it took away from the other Egos in the band. Lol. Haven’t sung the song since that day, but it’s such a beautiful wedding or love song!

This may be the most beautiful love song ever written. I used to think that "Annie's Song" was the perfect love song, but the more I listen to "For You," the more I am convinced that the words, the melody, and the spirit of love in John's voice make this the most heart-rending love song ever. John had such a loving heart and beautiful soul that only he could express himself this way, and his voice captures the truth of what being "in love" and unconditional love really are and what they mean.

For You (John Denver songs) Lyricist/Composer: John Denver Just to look in your eyes again Just to lay in your arms Just to be the first one always there for you Just to live in your laughter Just to sing in your heart Just to be everyone of your dreams come true Just to sit by your window Just to touch in the night Just to offer a prayer each day for you Just to long for your kisses Just to dream of your sighs Just to know that I'd give my life for you For you, for the rest of my life For you, all the best of my life For you alone, only for you Just to wake up each morning Just to you by my side Just to know that you're never really far away Just a reason for living Just to say, "I adore" Just to know that you're here in my heart to stay For you for, the rest of my life For you all, the best of my life For you alone, only for you Just the words of a love song Just the beat of my heart Just the pledge of my life, my love, for you

While we are waxing poetic about John Denver and this song and his great talent, I shall insert a bit of lightness - or insanity here. My (now) husband and I had just come home from the movies and my mother who stayed up very late, said, "Oh, you just missed him. He was on Johnny Carson's show and he is such a nice boy!" Keep in mind; my mother was stone sober and she was a very intelligent woman. She did have a terrible problem with names. And she tended to say things she was thinking, without leading up to them. So I finally said to her, "Mum, who are you talking about?" And she said, "You know...You told me about him........David Cleveland!" And, God rest his soul, that's what my family called John Denver from then on! And I've introduced his music to my children and my grandchildren, but I used his proper name!

John Denver has been my favorite singer ( and song writer ) for over 60 years . This song , in particular touches my heart so deeply , it brings tears to my eyes , for while I listen it brings my consciousness to my beautiful wife who has been with me seemingly forever ( and everything before her fades into unimportance ) . The song is so haunting, that every time I play it I need to play it again and again . . . and again . I cry every time ; it’s so good. George Lewis, Sr.
