@@jjmfarmer9465 Haven't you noticed how National Parks are being closed down lately? They are burning down forests left & right. I recently found out Smithsonian is covering something up in 30 caves in the Grand canyon. Heirogliphics were found by a man named Waite before cameras. He drew them, sent it to Smithsonian to decipher and they blocked the caves he found it in. The left wants to take down Mt. Rushmore. Notice, there are no Democrats on Rushmore? They messed with the Colorado river, now ppl are trying to save it. Its not what it once was. I don't trust them not to destroy the Rockies. They own the mountain parks remember.

Nice reaction. John is unique in so many ways, not least in that he is the only song writer, composer, performer or recording artist to have written or co-written two state songs for individual states in the United States in the 20th century.. In the years following his untimely death in a plane accident in California in October 1997, Rocky Mountain High was selected as a state song for John's beloved Colorado and Take Me Home, Country Roads was selected as a state song for West Virginia. Only one other composer, Stephen Foster in the 19th century held that unique honour before John, so John has joined an exclusive club of two! Isn't that amazing?

Some friends and I used to camp in the Colorado Rockies, the Grand Tetons and Alberta way, back in the seventies. There were these places that struck you to the bone with their beauty. In the late spring of '76 we camped along Grand Tetons, with the snow-capped mountain range in the background, piercing low hanging gray clouds ("poking the eye of God") nesting behind a line of tall pines at their foot, a clear ice-cold mountain lake in front of them, and in the foreground was a field of multitude of different colored wild flowers. We nick-named the place "Cheyenne Valley." We cooked thick steaks, with its juices dripping over open flames, causing them to lick the the meat, along with baked potatoes, and drank beer cooled in the ice-cold lake. Best damn meal I ever had or ever will! If there's a heaven, then Cheyenne Valley was a glimpse of it!

A great reaction. I've live in over two dozen places around the world, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to the Hawaiian paradise, to Germany and England, and in many locations in the United States, deep south, southwest, the great plains, the Pacific coast, the Great Lakes region, and the east coast. I currently live in Colorado (Centennial, the southern part of Denver). This is my third time living in Colorado (1961-1964, 1974-1978, and 2019 to present), and I've always known I'd end up here. I really can't explain it, but there is something special about the Rocky Mountains. I spent a bit of time in Afghanistan, and the mountains there are magnificent and the Rocky Mountains are underwhelming by comparison, but for some reason, they just still seem more magical. Visiting the Rocky Mountains in Colorado should be on everyone's bucket list.
