I love that he went across the pond to help our New Zealand family raise money in a Telethon. He always had a huge heart and a magic voice.

Had no idea the talented bugger could play the piano. WTH? I knew he played guitar but not accompany himself on the piano. My god he was talented, and so nice. Such a beaut bloke. ❤❤❤

My wife and I saw him in Brisbane Australia, 15 years ago, I've been a musician for 30 years and I think I had a spiritual experience, I was in tears, Thankyou John ❤❤❤

John went to my school, as a kid you would never have thought he would turn out like this. He was a shy kid but he had a great family environment that spurred him on. Hope he is on the mend now, he didn't deserve to get cancer.

I keep saying this, but it fascinates me watching your reaction to him and it makes me feel special because we grew up with his music living in Australia, and we just see him as the standard.

I have heard him sing all my life and I am so glad that he is finally getting the recognition that he deserves.

Never really liked him until he came to Geraldton, Western Australia and gave free entrance to his concert which was in a large tent and he sang "Your The Voice " and he had the bagpipes. It was an absolutely fantastic performance. Have loved him ever since. So pleased to see a picture on Facebook enjoying Christmas with his family after having a long time in hospital having treatment for a nasty cancer. Hope he is able to sing again 😊

The Telethon's here are quite early in the day too Dominic... so the man wakes up with that voice... I used to love seeing him on TV shows and they'd always put him on the spot to sing... never said he'd rather not.. .never missed a note... He is just a joy... The most extraordinary thing about this video, which no-one picked up on, is that this is the only time we have seen John playing an instrument!

For the best example of John as entertainer with the audience in the palm of his hands, look for he version titled ‘Help Beatles (High quality)’ it’s a different live arrangement and shows what a master singer and entertainer John is. The version where he’s wearing a black shirt!

Anything Farnham is awesome, but I think the one with mso is the best version but this is great. John is the best male vocalist of all time. Just the agility, range, mic technique, stage presence, just everything is perfect.

I just love how you still get surprised everytime you hear john sing. And that right there is why we should all agree John Farnham is one of not THE Best singer to ever live. This was an impromptue performance at a Telethon in NZ ...cold and without a warm up. Even most of the best vocalists would struggle to do that. Some of my favourite videos are of him during interviews, when he wasnt prepared to sing and when he is put on the spot, he just opens up his mouth and out it comes. No warm up!!!....no problem!!!! ❤

I'm glad you enjoyed this live performance of "Help". But, you should really check out other live performances of this song from John Farnham, particularly the live version of Whispering Jack concert of 1987, and the 1990 performance in Melbourne. Those ones are the best one that will blow you away.

John is my favourite singers of all time. Indeed one of the best. This performance was from the New Zealand Telethon, a much loved charity fund-raiser where viewers phone-in cash donations. Australia also has regular Telethons, with multiple performers, musicians and comedians give of their time freely to help raise money. Telethons still happen here today, but with tech donations come via many ways, not just the phone. John on this night was one of many performers giving of their time, so he was performing without most of his crew or band.

As an Australian, I've come to almost neglect John and some of the others you have reacted to over the my life. Growing up hearing them every day and even seeing both of them live multuple times it, kinda dulls the specialry of them. Watching you first discover John and Jimmy right up till this point have really helped put it in perspective and make me really admire both of them again and many more

Held in high esteem,here in Australia..a born natural..and used to smoke two packs of cigarettes a day...back in the day. He has a vocal range,and strength ,that vocalist can only wish that they had..and he has his ego in check..a humble bloke..and a known joker..a comedian.

No warm up!!! An insane person (affectionate) 😂 Out of all the versions I've heard the MSO one is the most polished and certainly the most dramatic with the epic energy the orchestra brought. This version is very similar in its phrasing but obviously it's much more relaxed as his "party trick because it's the only thing (he) can play on the piano." It's hard not to compare and I try not to in a negative way because truly it's not a competition but if it were John would win just sayin.
