I spent 4 years of my life working for JF(45) as a pararescue jumper. I was one of the minority that determined something was sus, so I left in 87. To this day I still have mixed emotions about the man. He clearly was at the forefront, however most of us could perhaps do that with free money.

You don't get much time for fraud because no real money is taken... Because there is never any, its all made up by the banks. The banks are the biggest thieves.

But he put all the money back into the business, where's the problem? Is it that he had no intention of paying it back? Not enough big contracts? Got the money illegally? Was that it?
@nadinewesterveld5597
@nadinewesterveld5597 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't really get it either... Seems like the banks loaned him money against assets he didn't have, and then he used that money to build a business which seemingly did a lot of good. So, as long as he'd be able to repay the loans, what's the catch? What am I missing?
@sandrabentley8111
@sandrabentley8111 2 жыл бұрын
@@nadinewesterveld5597 exactly. Maybe it was how he got the loans, as you say, against assets that didn't exist. Those empty containers, so that was fraud. But it's all a bit strange really, as he seemed to really love the company he built and yes, they did a lot of good.

The crime was that the bank lent him the money on false information. Yes the Bank should have done their due diligence, but he let them believe they were lending against assets that he did not have. Which is fraud.
@johninjersey
@johninjersey 2 жыл бұрын
He defrauded the bank by claiming those containers contained assets to back the loan. They were empty. Stupid of the bank to lend that much money without checking but it's still fraud on his part

"He didn't seem like the kind of guy who'd kill himself" This is making a HUGE claim about how mental health works, especially the mental health of someone who obviously is an outlier when it comes to how he thinks. For instance, I suffer from RSD, Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. This can cause one to feel a MASSIVE jolt of major depression that can last from about half an hour to a couple hours. This includes suicidal thoughts and potentially actions. It can come on suddenly with very little reason, such as a wayward comment, etc. The other 99.9% of the time, I can come off as happy, fun, eccentric, annoyed, or occasionally angry. But in that 0.1%, there is a possibility that I can walk into traffic and end it all. People who suffer from depression don't have a "type" of personality, and conmen are really good at hiding who they are and how they feel.

The guy doesn’t seem to be a bad person. He invested the money into the organisation, did a great thing in Australia. Had a nice family, has been devoted to his commitments. It looks to me like banks set him up, he was just the escaping goat.
