I know Kirwan mentions the recent incorporation of South African teams in the Pro14 in Europe, but besides that haven't the Springboks always been the more Northern hemisphere styled team of the South ? I always thought a Wales v South Africa was closer in style between both opponents than, say, a South Africa v Australia.

I have news for my New Zealand friends; Northern Hemisphere rugby is actually more balanced than even NZ rugby. They run the lines brilliantly and makes the ball do all the work. Physicality is not priority. How you could even think that the Bok style of play is due to NH influence as you put it is disappointing. If you have to analyse the NH influence on the Springboks, I think, our players are burnt out because they play a tough NH season and then are expected to perform at their peak in a SH season. As Ruby stated: Eben Etzebeth making unusual mistakes. Kolbe is now off the field for being injured during practice. For a month already. The body needs time to recover after a tough season, which the Boks that plays overseas don't give their bodies. They then appear unfit and sluggish. NZ and Australia should be thankful they didn't adopt same system to allow players to play abroad and then play for the National team. As a Springbok supporter, I have huge respect for NH rugby. Ireland and Wales have totally different styles; it's like watching Springbok vs All Blacks. Then there are Scotland, England, Italy, France, to name a few. There is nothing wrong with NH rugby. At the moment, New Zealand only executes better and win most games against them. Yet, a time will come where at least one of the NH teams will beat even the All Blacks consistently. Giving honest advice or comments is one thing but mock and redicule other countries on this forum is not what I see as "in the good spirit of the game".

I’m a South African and agree with what’s being said about the style although if you take a close look at the game, you’ll notice that the Wallabies were street smart about the second game … some of their tackles were hazardous… an example is how Eben’s knees were cut with a no arms tackle right at the beginning … that’s just my view … it’ll be a different game against the ABs … it’s always a massive contest because ABs don’t use illegal hacks to slow down the forward momentum of the Boks… I’m not being a sore loser but the margins are so small in these tests …

It's time to ask the question: Why is South African domestic rugby dead? How can it be that a rugby loving nation does not love its domestic rugby? Attendance at matches is right down and even viewership on TV is right down. This is a political question, that international rugby needs to start asking if they want a strong South African opponent. It's obvious that we are still delivering loads of talent.... all our talent is just playing overseas. Why is that? And why is the rugby loving nation of South Africa not loving South African domestic rugby?

@@wildgoosechase7700 mate how long have you been a Rugby Fan you must be new to our game 🤭, NZ players go overseas to chase the money at the End of their Careers mostly when they get old or in their 30s and are no longer upto the standard of NZ Super Rugby Level. And Not all SpringBoks players but alot of the SpringBoks top players go overseas in their Prime which is so fuckn sad to see due to a lack of support from their Government I guess, and when they come back to South Africa to play International test matches they're chemistry with the team is not the same because they just slot straight back into the National team, this is just my personal opinion and understanding of what's going on with SA Rugby not sure if that's the case thou and no disrespect to our other Kuzzies across the Ditch either, but as for NZ players they can't go overseas in their prime otherwise they can't play for the All Black's and the NZ players that do go overseas early in their Careers are the 3rd or 4th or 5th string players that know they probably wont make the AB's, to be an All Black u gotta play domestic Rugby to get into the AB's, off the top of my head I recall no more than 4 or 5 players to have ever been able to go on a Sabbatical overseas in the history of NZ Rugby, they didn't even allow Carlos Spencer the opportunity which was disappointing for me, and Sabbaticals have only been allowed by the NZRFU over the last 10 years or so and Daniel Carter was the first to do it in our country koz he wanted to travel, lucky he was Dan the Man otherwise NZRFU would not have allowed these changes in the system, Carter was always gonna leave that year even if it was gna cost him his position in the team so they had to make an exception for their superstar, normally the players get a 6month Sabbatical these days so that they can come back within the year to play domestic comp so they tweek and tune up their engine's again to our standards of making the national squad. We play for the love of the game not the money, our players are the least paid players in World Rugby if they're playing here in New Zealand, but it's not about the money for us it's outweighed by the passion for the game 🙂. South African Rugby is still strong enough to compete at the highest level and are still one of the best teams out, I just believe if their System was the same as ours they probably would be a far better team than our All Black's and would be dominating world Rugby worst than what the AB'S have done in the past and present, imagine that...😍🤩😍 Holy crap sorry for the long ass txt lol

@@wildgoosechase7700 what you don't get and what my point is, is that there is lots of money in sports when you sell out the stadium, game after game. The cury cup will also be exciting when it has loads of revenue from packed out stadiums and it can afford to pay for the best players and coaches from around the world. Think about it.... why do we have huge rugby stadiums in South Africa? There was a time when there was a need for them. They used to be sold out. But the South African public is tiered of the politics in our sport. It's time for the international community to start putting pressure on our government, just like they did during apartheid

This South Africa team seems unfit to me. Totally stretched by the running game of OZ due to a lack of match fitness. Once that returns they will again impose themselves. Maybe not this weekend against the ABs but another 80 under their belts we should all not be surprised if they crush the all blacks in the last game at least physically and intensity wise even if it only results in a narrow win though it could be a run anyway 38 : 17 win in that last game if it clicks for them with their intensity increased for 80.

The ABs is very fortunate the entire pool of SA players picked for Provincial and national teams from school level up is based on racial quotas. The team could be picked on merit but from a pool of quota players. Same for coaches. Madile Stick the backline coach were appointed the very same year he first coached the Kings backline? So basically based on what? Yes SA style is boring and just wrong. SA could have played more with forwards but more creative. Backline players cant draw opponents properly. Quotas and transformation is SA rugby main goal. Nz will never see the full potential of the Springboks.

This didn't age well. Rugby isn't about globe trotters scorelines, Rugby is a core strong pack , good kicking, if you look at all the WC winning sides , they all had strong packs , good no.9 or 10. A little arrogance to suggest what Ireland, France & SA is boring Rugby because we kick it more than you do. France kicked away possession and fed off your mistakes, nothing boring about that , the Boks dismantled you through a front pack, nothing wrong with that. Come back to traditional Rugby NZ lose the arrogance, Super Rugby is nothing more than Rugby League , your props just off load your scrums are just resets... lockdown is where you lost the plot thinking and selling to your nation that your Rugby was the best.... that's why you've had to now recall a guy like Blackadder , the mongrel you laughed at not long ago the Kind of player these pundits scoffed at. Three world cups each but at the end of the day that is just a tournament and no more. To be the best you need to consistently play like the best. The telling point is that South Africa has the best winning record against NZ out of everyone who plays the AB's {Aus are second} with 36 wins to to SA and 59 wins to the AB's which is quite a margin to NZ. The AB's have scored 2050 points to SA's 1577 points . The AB's have been ranked at number 1 for 80% of the time that the world rankings have been in place...... just have a think about that ?? I would like to add however that this weekend will be by no means easy . The Bok's are going to be up for this game and the we know the AB's would be best to to not underestimate them. The Boks are the AB's biggest rivals and have some awesome players and they will adjust. Should be a good game.
