People arguing about if John wrote the song about LSD but nobody is talking about how he is also talking about freedom of expression and asking real questions in the 60’s about why people take drugs and that has to be the smartest thing someone has said during that time. I've heard John deny Lucy so many times, I'm a believer now. John didn't shy away from drug controversy much. So, there's that. Still, it's too obviously a song about LSD "to say anythin' else," as John would have said.
@RJ-wx3fh
@RJ-wx3fh 2 жыл бұрын
@@mitchellhawkes22 I do wonder if he'd a mind to mess with the media, using controversy for press coverage like many modern celebrities. As long as he denied any link it would be a question to ask and joke about. If he admitted anything, be it coincidental, completely based on lisurgic acid or making a joke from his son unknowingly making an LSD picture or otherwise, the game would be over and it would be a trivia footnote.

@@MrLeoHaslett I was making a joke. The real argument against it referring to LSD would be, why would they do it, Velvet Underground released Heroin, in the very same year and only 3 years later Jimmy Hendrix released Purple Haze. Why would The Beatles who were pretty open about their drug use be so inclined to make an acronym in a quite odd and unsatisfying way, and then deny it.

@@Alex-cw3rz - If they admitted it at the time the song would be banned by the BBC. But it is weird he would keep lying. It is a weird coincidence as the song seems to describe hallucinations of LSD. In the beginning of Power vs. Force by David R. Hawkins, he talks about how much that is wrong with society is that we tackle the effects of problems rather than the root cause. And that applies to every facet of life. We are largely living and run by a low level of consciousness. Until we collectively evolve to a higher paradigm not much will change. If you can't get people to see what the actuall problem is, then they will not care. And try and change someone's perception, see how that goes.

@@ZackWilliams_TheProducer You’re absolutely correct. God manifested himself in the flesh, lived among us and established the blueprint for exactly what you’re talking about. The leaders (religious and secular) of His day tortured and murdered him for it. Not much has changed, although the institution He established, as fractured as it is, is still here 2021 years later, and “low level consciousness” still rules the day. Always has and always will.

I'm actually old enough to remember this appearance. There were several other topics covered on this show which are clues to what's true and what's not. For instance, John and Yoko were trying to get custody of Yoko's daughter from her previous marriage during this time, and her ex-husband was very successfully arguing in court to keep John and Yoko from seeing the young girl. There had already been a "marijuana" incident with John in New York, and he was legitimately concerned that he might be deported or refused entry to the country if his previous drug use remained a frequent topic of discussion. Of course the song is absolutely about LSD, but John was in no position to admit it during this appearance. The artist in him probably cringed at having to provide such literal and absolute explanations, also, and likely preferred to leave it to the listener's interpretation.

No it's a drawing that Julian Lennon did in pre-school age 4, and Lucy was a little girl in his class that he was friends with. He showed the drawing on his friend to his dad, and John wrote a song about it. It is not about drugs.

i’m pretty sure the drawing was actually made by julian’s friend lucy tho. (which is why julian said that it was lucy in the sky with diamonds, when john asked). but i’m pretty sure that julian once played drums while visiting john, and john chose to use it for a song. he even gave julian credits.
