Lyrics:
If you wanna roll me, then you gotta roll me all night long
And if you wanna use me, then you gotta use me til I’m gone
I’m not a fallen angel, I just fell behind
I’m out of luck and I’m out of time
If you don’t wanna love me, let me go
I’m runnin for the last train
I’m runnin for the last train home
If you wanna know me, then you gotta know me through and through
And if you’re gonna hurt me, then you gotta hold me next to you
No matter how you work it, things go wrong
I put my heart where it don’t belong
So if you’re comin with me let me know
Maybe you’re the last train
Maybe you’re the last train home
I’m on the last train runnin
I’m on the last train runnin
And I surrender
And I surrender

John is such a hustler. The first 2 minutes its like he's just your garden variety pop star who holds the guitar so that he can call himself a singer songwriter. Then from 2:10 he reminds you why Eric Clapton called him a master guitarist. He's still got it.

@@jaybd9683 right. His licks reminded me of Clapton, like he was trying to sound that way. And I don't mean that as an insult. My favorite guitar players don't play crazy fast. Gilmore and Knopfler for instance. Sometimes less IS more. I like Satriani and Vai too, but the slower players with feeling are more interesting to me. Plus I can sorta play like that, but not like Satch..

Slightly less aggressive version of Clapton's tone from Behind The Sun / Journeyman. Phillinganes played keyboards on those albums, too, I believe.

John and Paul Reed Smith (PRS Guitars) collaborated on this John Mayer signature model. John knows what he wants in a guitar, my son is considering this guitar in the midnight rose color.

If you wanna roll me, then you gotta roll me all night long And if you wanna use me, then you gotta use me 'til I'm gone I'm not a fallen angel, I just fell behind I'm out of luck and I'm out of time If you don't wanna love me, let me go I'm runnin' for the last train I'm runnin' for the last train home If you wanna know me, then you gotta know me through and through And if you're gonna hurt me, then you gotta hold me next to you No matter how you work it, things go wrong I put my heart where it don't belong So if you're comin with me, let me know Maybe you're the last train Maybe you're the last train home I'm on the last train runnin' I'm on the last train runnin' And I surrender And I surrender I'm on the last train runnin' I'm on the last train runnin' And I surrender And I surrender I'm on the last train runnin' I'm on the last train runnin' And I surrender And I surrender I'm on the last train runnin' I'm on the last train runnin' And I surrender I surrender (oh yeah)

For a moment at the beginning there I thought I was watching the music video-I had to snap back to realize what I was watching! That performance was flawless. Oh, and it restored a good deal of my soul and self-respect, and made my heart a little more tender, and maybe just a little wiser: “If you’re gonna hurt me Then you gotta hold me next to you No matter how you work it Things go wrong I put my heart where it don’t belong” Musician from my generation who has always felt like a friend.
