The hydra was a multi headed serpent that was vanquished by Heracles. Cerberus was (most often described as) a three headed hound with multiple snakes along its back who guarded the gates to Hades’ realm. Cerberus was also captured by Heracles as the last of his labors but then was returned to it’s post. The analogy of Biden’s to Heracles’s trials certainly does seam fit in this election! I think that both the Hydra and Cerberus fill the rolls of #45 and his administration quite well.

@@danielgehring7437 Cerberus is almost always a dog in the mythology. The amount of heads he has is questionable. In most modern descriptions he’s show to have three but it’s been numbered as many as several hundred. Hydra on the other hand is most commonly shown to be some kind of multi headed dragon although some writers made him more like on upside down octopus. Greek myths are real weird. Anyways they are both children of Typhon, but clearly distinct from each other in every telling of the Underworld and the Trials of Heracles (or Hercules idc)

I wonder if im the only one who struggled to enjoy this clip after knowing that john was most likely going through a very tought time with his addiction during this clip. Its an amazingly funny clip but as someone who has watched every john mulaney special, youtube clip and late night show ever its hard to appreciate the comedy knowing its born out of such a tough time for one of my idols and someone whos comedy has gotten me through my own tough times through laughing about such nonserious subjects from how people write happy birthday on cards to jokes about serious things like addiction. I ended up coming to the conclusion that its to enjoy this clip as we will see a lot more of john in the future and hopefully get to see this tall child that killed princess diana in a positive and sober place for a very very long time. I also hope that john adresses the relapse in a future special as it would add so much to his already positive impact on normalizing people getting help for addiction while still struggling but improving. That said if he doesnt i would understand.

In this episode of "John Mulaney: Paranormal Investigator" John examines the role of ghosts in the 2020 election. Next time, John will be trying to contact the ghost of Princess Diana and Dodi Al-Fayed to get them to admit that CLEARLY a 13 year old boy in wyoming could NOT have been the cause of the crash on that tragic french day.

one quick thing, though. At about 2:27, he says that “Hedra” is the watchdog who guards the gates of the Underworld. That dog’s name is Cerberus, and he only has 3 heads. Hydra is the multi-headed snake dragon who guards *an* entrance toward that same Underworld. “Hedra” is a Greek word for face, especially used for geometric solids; a regular hexahedron is the nerd word for cube.
