Lyrics:
So disconnected where did we break down
I thought our love was built on solid ground
When I think about the past, think about love and life
Obsess about the things that went wrong from right
Hindsight shoulda been plain to see
Thought it never coulda happened to you and me
I keep hearing bad love songs
They must be reading my mind
Keep playing on and on
I just keep hoping that time
Get it outta my head
So disconnected where did we break down
I thought our lives were built on solid ground, yea
So disconnected oh but I keep believing
Once upon a dream
What about the world we had together
Once upon a love
Love that’s gonna last forever
Gotta find a way
Yea, we could put it all back together
Once upon a dream, once upon a love
A love we thought would last forever
Now you were everything, you were heaven sent
Now time turned bliss to discontent
Love full of life turned to half alive
Infatuation can hypnotize
We were young, and we were solid as stone
But now young love is gone, guess we just got to move on
Gotta learn to move on
So disconnected where did we break down
I thought our love was built on solid ground
So disconnected oh but I keep believing
Once upon a dream
What about the world we had together
Once upon a love
I never did believe it was over
Gotta find a way
Oh got to put it all back together
Once upon a dream, once upon a love
Oh so disconnected
I thought our lives were built on solid ground
So disconnected where did we break down
I thought our love was built on solid ground
So disconnected oh but I keep believing
Once upon a dream
What about the world we had together
Once upon a love
I never did believe it was over
Gotta find a way
Wanna put it all back together
Once upon a dream, once upon a life
Oh so disconnected
So disconnected
Oh but I keep believing

Another great song, John Oates! Loving the high falsetto! You were near where I live, just a few short years ago, at the Bristol Rhythm and Roots! Sorry, I wasn't able to attend. I live 20 miles away, in Kingsport, TN.. Thanks for sharing this song!

Hi, John! I'm so honored that I found this on KZfaq, as you are an amazing performer and always were! I'll never forget the time that Brother Alphonsus and I got to see you, in concert, since your dear mother-in-law, Sharon Pommier, got us the tickets. It's a precious memory, and I keep your autograph in my desk drawer! God bless, Brother Charles (Good Shepherd Manor, Momence, Illinois)

I have great respect for John Oates' solo career, because instead of simply making Blue Eyed soul albums, he preferred to follow his own path which led him to get back to country..... but I must also admit that the 'album I would like from him is about this genre. just as I would very much like him to do a live with some of his beautiful songs from the Hall and Oates period, such as The Emptyness or The girl who used to be.
