Original Gangsta Rap from the 80s and 90s usually had a message. It was often told as a story with a bad ending. The violence in rap lyrics today has none of that.

Many rappers who have violence in their music die like their music. Live by the sword die by sword. Life imitating art. A man reaps what he sows. Edit: vast majority who rap about violence live without dying violently If you look at the 1000s that have done it. However the peaceful rappers almost never die.

Simple answer. Each rapper was doing something stupid at the time they died. One was gambling in some shady place(TakeOff) and the other got shot up in his car after posting his location with money(X) and the third posted himself eating in a gang territory restaurant wearing $30,000 jewelry (PNB).

When folks make the claim that rappers die because of the music, they're inferring that the lyrics, or at least a lyric, motivated the killing. That doesn't seem to be the case in the majority of these violent killings toward rappers. It's 2022 and we're still making the "it's the violent movies and video games" argument. 🤦‍♂

Does anyone find it strange. That rappers and others in our black community die violently. But they're is never any community outrage. Just a bunch of RIP tweets and that's it. Zero outrage. Nobody is mad. We just act like its normal and move on. But the minute a cop shots us black twitter comes alive and we protesting the same night. Murder is murder. We need to keep that same energy....
@chrisa4695
@chrisa4695 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. I see the outrage everyday. I see parents and family crying on the 6:00 news. I see the cans light videos. I see the makeshift memorials at the scene of the crime. The problem is there is little sustainable action afterward. Too many of us don’t vote at all or keep voting to the same do nothing politicians. I live in a state where Glock has a manufacturing plant. They gave the Republican governor $10,000 (I think) toward his re-election campaign. He then supported legislation to make our state a “Constitutional Carry” state which means you do not need a license or criminal background check to carry a concealed or open weapon. At the same time he blames the Democratic mayors for high murder rate. This happens all across the country and we sit in our buts and do nothing. Yes, I know most criminals but their guns illegally but we have taken away one tool to get them off the street. Another thing we do as a people is we celebrate the thugs and criminals too much. I am all for protest when someone is wrongfully convicted or killed by the cops. But we make heroes out of known thugs. We demand and celebrate their release from prison even though the overwhelming number of their victims were black. I heard a comedian joke that we give more love to someone coming home from prison than graduations from college. We need to get our priorities together. I don’t listen to that crap.
@PeterParker-wj3cr
@PeterParker-wj3cr Жыл бұрын
@@chrisa4695 I hear you bro! But i'm talking about accountability. It's always easier to point the finger. The reason i used the cop shooting black example. Is because the energy isn't the same. Because its easier to blame the ones who don't look like us. I don't know about you. I've never been in a bc club shoot up by the police. I've never seen a cop do a drive by at my home boys house. We seem to have a problem holding our own accountable. I get it. It's not the popular thing to do. You won't get no cool points. They're are many factors involved. But i'd just like to see the same energy. You said you see outrage everyday. See this is my point. Your talking about outrage from family members. People only seem to care when they are directly impacted. If we can kick and stream when cops gun us down. We should be just as bad when we gun down our own. Here is another prime example. What do you think would happen if Take off was killed by a cop? They're would be riots in the streets in protest. But since he was killed by one of us. Zero outrage. This is my point. We need to change that mindset. I find it disgusting

@@PeterParker-wj3cr we are on the same page. I agree with you 98%. However, we have to hold cops to a higher standard because they are sworn officers of city, county, and state governments.
