I believe John Salley. The one thing that stood out to me while watching "The Last Dance" is that MJ's fame really isolated him from living a happy life. Sometimes you can be too famous. Having people show up in parking lots just to get a glimpse of you before social media existed is wild. When you're that famous, it's never safe to be alone so you never truly have any privacy. Michael Jackson was the same way. Imagine being so famous that someone in the world is always trying to get access to you 24/7. That in itself could cause a mental breakdown.

LeBron has recently talked about not being able to do normal things. When you are a celeb or superstar athlete doing normal stuff or living a normal life doesn’t exist especially today with social media. To be able to be incognito and fly under the radar is so important to many celebs now
@demond1818
@demond1818 Жыл бұрын
@swingking83 I think most celebrities actually enjoy being famous. Even for most celebrities, they aren't recognized everywhere they go. Most people will probably do a double take or ask if they are who they are if they are recognized. Most actors can hide in plain sight because they look different in person than they do on television. When you become a superstar, there's no place in the world you can go that people don't recognize you. Being 6'9" already draws attention to you anyway, so you can't just get out and pump gas without being mobbed.

All I basically heard in the first few minutes was that MJ was good at keeping people like Salley out of his personal business LOL he probably knew years later people would be doing interviews and writing books about him (Scottie) so it’s probably best to keep everything close to the chest. Actually no. Being famous, being a company asset, having wealth… actually limits you to the places you can go. You think you would be able to do anything because of the power/notoriety… but then you easily become a liability to not only yourself, but also your shareholders. Look at Michael Irvin, just speaking to a woman got him suspended from the Super Bowl tomorrow.

Even if the fame was generously toned down, I don't see Jordan as a club person anyway. Club atmosphere and the people who need to always be in them really was a prelude to all the people who are trying to be "influencers" and are concerned about who many followers you have. Jordan probably had some. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was very few. Scottie Pippen is the one who ended up with a Larsa Pippen. Jordan on his 2nd wife and she's more like a Hannah Jeter. Good looking Cuban who you never hear from or about. His 1st wife didn't even do any interviews, no books, didn't do anything. Just took all that money she didn't deserve but at least she's kept quiet this whole time.

There are always exceptions. In the 90s, my brother-law met Michael. He met him while playing golf. My b-I-law is the coolest. He has never met a stranger. Period. He, my sister, and my niece lived in a middle-class neighborhood. It was nothing gated, secured, or palatial. Michael visited their home, ate dinner, and chilled; for hours. Michael was down to earth, and fit right in. They even got him to take a pic with him, & my niece. So, when I hear stories about him, I always remember that moment created with my brother-in-law.

Jamie Fox actually grabbed a comm at the help desk and announced to the entire lounge that John was there by saying "John Salley, of the Los Angeles Lakers, your chicken wings are ready." Everyone woke up and looked around and made a move towards John and Jamie got onto his flight, escaping the crowd, laughing.

The truth about Jordan on the road with women: The Bulls stayed at 5 star hotels and Jordan always had the entire penthouse floor with major security (his own and hotel extra) much like a head of state, like a president. Some of the finest, flawless, most beautiful, hot women were brought up to Mike, secretly - they were vetted, stripped of their purses, cell phones and all else and had to sign NDAs. MJ was not sloppy and had full proof protection! There was one slip up when he was younger and rising to mega star in the 1980s - some blonde chick in Indiana, who was paid off, but still was trying to go public with stuff years later… she was largely ignored. During the Bulls 72-10 season- the Bulls had several days in Los Angeles on one of those play the Lakers at the Forum and Clippers at the Coliseum trips. On a Friday during that road trip the entire Bulls team hung out at the popular “Century Club” in the Century City (West LA) section of Los Angeles. Only MJ had a security team around him - in fact the security (up to six or seven armed dudes) like secret service, formed a ring around Jordan as he made his way through the club and when he wanted to chill - they had a roped off area on the club’s second level with velvet ropes- a huge crowd was kept at bay watching MJ - calling his name as he sipped a bottle of beer, cigar in hand, groovin’ to 2Pac’s “How Do Ya Want It.”

MJ was the first player to show that thru sheer work ethic, a player could become so good that he (or she one day) could take over a game and change the outcome of said game.... What’s so weird about John Salley relationship with Michael Jordan…is that he spent more time to kill Jordan than win with him. He was part of the bad boy Pistons who were targeting Jordan in the late 80s with very hard flagrant-type fouls to prevent Jordan from going off on them. After he could no longer beat the enemy, he decides to join Jordan for a year in 1996. Sure this isn’t completely abnormal in the NBA: friends become foes and foes become friends just like Patrick Beverly and Russell Westbrook’s relationship. But Jordan hated those bad boy Pistons so much that he ended up recruiting two of them: Salley and Rodman. And I find that really ironic.
