Samson's idea is silly. What does alerting the league before the game help? What if Porter beat the overs? Yes, if a weird pattern shows up before the game it's important to notify everyone, but flagging it before the game starts as illegal is putting the cart way in don't of the horse. You can't pull a guy and say you suspect based on someone else betting he's going to cheat, you're asking to get sued

Actually, I agree with you whole heartedly. David without guard rails can be unbearable and tone deaf at times. But with someone to bounce off of and guide him it gets the best out of him.

i think there is a lot more gambling issues then before - just by the fact its every where now. its easy to get on your phone to bet. also there is so many different options, you think your local bookie was going to offer you action on a two way nba player?

There was increased betting interest in the under. 0:59 - why did betting sites even have props for him? 1:59 - why are betting sites accepting the bets? Is it because if they don't hit, they make a huge return, and we wouldn't hear a word? 3:06 - no. Hey David, what about in baseball when pitchers get pulled early, like Jose Berrios in wild card game last year, and they can't reach their totals. Isn't stuff like that fishy? Sports books need to stop accepting fishy bets. Or just don't do player props, especially on guys with low totals.

@thevilifyingforce funny how DraftKings is mad about that but when I have a parlay at +1200 odds and the only leg that lost was Temple +7.5 vs UAB and then comes out a few days later that this is the 4th game of the year that Temple games had massive money movement on them not to cover the spread (went from +1.5 to +7.5 over night) and investigation is Happening and I message draft kings to ask what would happen to my bet if it comes out they fixed the game, like would it cancel that leg and give me the win for the 3 legs that hit or refund my bet since foul play obviously happened and they just tell me “tough luck can’t cancel that leg or refund your bet” I feel no sympathy when games get fixed and the sports-books lose off of it since they only seem to care when fixed games makes them lose money and not when they win money from fixed games

Lifetime suspensions for sports betting scandals are ridiculous, especially considering that there are literally men who have beaten or sexually-assaulted women still playing professional sports. People get so overblown about sports betting "tarnishing" sports. It's bad, but I can think of far more unforgivable sports sins.

I can understand a player betting on himself or his team but you can't have players throwing games and performances

the reality is they don't care about women beaters, racists, predators etc. because it doesn't impact the bottom line. Fixing games can ultimately destroy the league which is why they care so much about it.

At first, I thought a lifelong ban would be an appropriate response. But then I thought of the compromising situation the league would find themselves in if and when a player with a higher stature is caught for a similar offense. They should let the story breathe before making an announcement, but I suspect he will be suspended for the entirety of the next season without pay. This is equivalent to a lifelong ban as I doubt another team would sign him, and he'll fade away into obscurity for a team abroad.

they are two different things. one is something a player did off the field, served his time and got released. one is a player who took money to throw a game. forget about the gambling nature for a moment. why would anybody even if the league does not ban him for life want him on their team?
