Fight Date: 2-22-87...At the beginning stated either he wins or retires...WHY? There had to be more to this last fight/retirement...

Referee is totally responsible for why that happened. In the first round they both were way out of the corner before the bell rang. The second round the bell rang and he was standing there staring at Duva with his arms crossed. What a horrible referee. Then he let the fucking guy sit on the ropes and get hit unnecessarily.

At least Johnny lasted longer against Honeyghan than his erstwhile conqueror Gene Hatcher did...

The Duvas harmed Brelands career by letting him box Volbrecht in SA. He was banned by the WBC and would have beaten Honeyghan in 87 and become World Champion and would have reigned for 3 or 4 years. He would have been up there with Leonard and Hearns as Welterweights.

Yea Honeyghan pulled a Bush league stunt but Bumphus got saved by what happened cause it saved him from more punishment

Brelands lack of class shows. The honeyghan of 85-mid 87 beats breland...fortunately for breland he got a shot finished honeyghan
