@@jeebtheweeb tl;dr - When you pick a side during MK11's DLC ending you actually created a branch in the timelines, one where Shang Tsung became keeper of time and one where Liu Kang did. Titan Shang Tsung tried to take over Liu Kang's timeline by teaching Quan Chi and this timeline's Shang Tsung magic, but it was foiled, so he decided to effectively restart MK Armageddon with two army's - one where all of the villains won the battle for the hour glass, and one where the heroes did. That's why Kitana looks like that - she is the Kitana from MK11 who became Khan of Outworld.

in this timeline, Cage isn't married to Sonya. Sonya is nowhere to be seen even though she and Jax are referenced in one ending (yes I know, Sonya is technically in the kameos part as well as an evil version of her as both Kano and herself in the final battle), so Cassie isn't around, which means that this is an evil version of Cassie alongside Takeda, Jacqui and Kung Jin.
