Buddy Hackett was without a doubt the funniest comic ever. A real Borscht Belt Jewish comic. My parents saw him live at the Concord Hotel back in the 60s. My Mother said she laughed so much she got a headache. There is no one around today like Buddy Hackett. He is missed.

No one gave us more entertainment than Johnny Carson. I had watched the late night entertainment going years before Johnny, and yes it was good. However, when Johnny took over the late night slot, he brought fantastic guests onto his show. The laughter was non stop, and to this day, I miss him, and his guests. there is no show on TV that compares, with good, funny humor, without all the filth! Thank heavens the show was taped, so please, bring on the videos!

I was a kid, an HBO special came on during the day in the summer. And I saw this old fat guy looked real corny. Listen. I decided to just keep the channel on the comic. When that show was finished, I could not stop laughing my azz off. That was my first experience with Buddy Hackett comedy. Although I saw him on all those movies from either the 50s or 60s. He was absolutely amazing. And I am a black man who loved Eddy Murphy. Total shock at the wit and humor of Hackett

Carson's personality and voice in the 70s sounded steady and low-key, like that of a radio talk show host. His 90-minute format in the 70s allowed his guests to talk. It was more of a talk show. His voice seemed more emotional in the 80s and he seemed to interrupt his guests mid-sentence more often.

“Look on him, the big twin maker.” And when Buddy does his impression of a drunk he’s funnier than Richard Pryor. And look how relaxed and laid back Johnny was that night. You’ll never see that nowadays. And don’t forget, the show was an hour and a half long!

The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson was a staple of late night in our house during the 1970s and 80s. He was intelligent, funny, stylish and really brought a first class feeling to TV. Sure do miss him. Late night TV these days stinks. Are any of these 1970s full length Johnny Carson episodes available on DVD?
