Johnny Cash's House...Final Footage???

During our honeymoon, my wife and I travelled NAshville, Memphis and South America in a motorhome. Being a Barry Gibb and Johnny Cash fan, we headed to Hendersonville on 3rd April 2007 and took this video footage of the lakeside house... When we got home a week or so later we heard the terrible news... Did we curse the place? Surely not! Perhaps the last ever video footage of the Cash house... How priviledged we were...

You were blessed to be able to capture this last footage of the house before the tragedy. It’s very odd that Roy Orbison also had the fire connection with his house next door to the lake house (later became an orchard) as well as did the Cash’s and Barry Gibb!

Gosh, these pics bring back so many memories, I'd been there in 2000 and 2002 while attending CASHBASH, a meeting of members of the CASH chatroom. It was such a beautiful house and surroundings. It seems that it was meant to be that Johnny Cash was the one and only person allowed to live there. It was just fitting for him and his family.

I was at his house back in late 90s and I still have the pictures of his house that I took . It was beautiful!!!

This...gives me chills! My fiance' and I go to the CMA Fest every year, and the last three years, I make him take me out there to see where this beautiful home of memories once stood! It's very, very sad. There's still burnt wood in the yard.

Just got back from Johnny's farm in Bon Aqua Tennessee just outside of Nashville of Interstate 40. Awesome people there. The Storyteller Museum is there also along with the actual One Piece At A Time Cadillac. Everyone should go there. Some Elvis artifacts are there too. Johnny's nephew Mark Alan Cash takes care of the place. And sings also.

Its not going to be a museum! Barry Gibb is turning it into a memorial garden for Johnny!! Such a shame! It was a beautiful house!

I agree. Johnny's overwhelming KARMA sensed the foreboding doucheness that was trying to alter the cool. Things happen. A right has a way of "working itself out". I like to think that what happened happened because it needed to happen. Simple as spelling C.A.S.H.

No, one of the Begee's bought it and during renovations a cigarette caught it on fire.

@@teenytime1 nope, not a cigarette ... the workers mistakenly used a highly flammable stain on the inside of the log house and a plumber upstairs welding pipes set of a spark that ignited the fire (as state above, I worked for one of the investigators who inspected the site and remains for the cause of the fire). A sad day indeed.

Are you serious about this? This was Apr 3? What a sad thing about such a landmark-which it should have been. The town could have purchased it but the Cash's did what they thought was best. I wonder if the fire retardant which was set off causing the fire was really necessary?

It wasn't a fire retardant - it was a stain on the inside of the house. The workers used the wrong stain - one that was highly flammable and a plumber welding pipes upstairs set of a spark that ignited the fire (I worked for one of the fire inspectors who looked at the remains to determine the cause) ...
