Johnny Hallyday, the French world's Elvis, sold over 100m records in his career. He died in 2017 (lung cancer). One million people lined the Champs-Élysées in Paris to view his funeral cortege.

Dramatic song. Basically he says that he loved her too much, so that he killed her. Johnny sang this song first with Lara in a TV show, live, and the performance was crazy. So he asked her if she wanted to come and sing it with him during his tour. She said yes right away because everyone loved Johnny, he was and still is the biggest singer here in France. It was a great opportunity for her. The rain was not part of the show. It was a living hell. Johnny and his crew had to cancel at least one show if I remember well. Johnny was mad and sad because he had a great respect for his fans. The rain adds a little bit of magic for this song to be honest. Thanks for the reaction.

Johnny Hallyday, was a French rock and roll and pop singer and actor, During a career spanning 57 years, he released 79 albums and sold more than 110 million records worldwide He was the French 'Elvis Presley' He startet his Career in 1960. He died 5 Dec 2017 He was French greatest artist. this is his best song [my opinion] Lara has one of the best voices, Caruso and her Adagio is spectacular, just as Floor's cover.

Hello Friends, With the great humility that characterizes Johnny, so that it's the voice of Lara that's the most emphasized, Johnny withdraws. Indeed, you'll notice that unlike Lara, there's no resonance effect, no echo effect in the settings of his microphone. There's another version of this song on the same live at the Stade de France (but it's the one that took place the day before I believe) where the two microphones are set with the same intensity. But the effect isn't the same. I think it was Johnny who asked the sound engineer to correct that so that lara would be the star of this duo. This live you watch proves that's was the good choice to do! :) Amitiés from South France

Somethings you must know about this video. If the gestures looks exaggerated , it is because it is a show in a stadium with 90000 people's in a rainy day. You have to exaggerate your gestures so anyone can understand. About the song itself, it is based upon a french movie from the thirties." Le jour se leve". A guy killed someone, and at sun raise the police is going to storm his flat and kill him. In the movie we see how things happened before...

I would like to point out that during rehearsals Johnny Hallyday would have asked Lara Fabian to sing I would like to point out that during rehearsals Johnny Hallyday would have asked Lara Fabian to sing with all her power, he wanted her to shine because she was his guest. Confirmation from Lara Fabian herself this morning January 25, 2024 on the French channel “TF1” in the show “Bonjour la matinale” This is why Johnny Hallyday is below vocally. It was intentional on his part. Johnny Hallyday was very generous. Also note those who do not know or know very little about this singer Johnny Hallyday, he could easily rise very high too. Very big vocal power too. I wanted to provide a clarification that I had already known for a long time but now with proof for those who belittle or who do not know this great performer. I'll let you judge for yourself by listening to a few albums in their entirety: "Rivière Ouvre ton lit" from 69, "Flagrant délit" from 71, "Insolitudes" from 73, “Derrière l'amour” from 76 “Hallyday 84 Nashville en direct” "Rock'n'roll attitude" from 85, "Gang" from 86, "Cadillac" from 89, "Ça ne chanhe pas un homme" from 91, “Ce que je sais” from 98, “Sang pour sang” from 99, “A la vie à la mort” from 2002, “Ma vérité” from 2005, “L'attente” from 2012, “Rester vivant” from 2014, his last posthumous album “Mon pays c'est l'amour” from 2018. And so many other magnificent albums.. etccccc

Johnny Halliday is extraordinary. Lara Fabian is exceptional. This girl sings extensively in all of her styles of music. ADAGIO, BROKEN VOW, JE SUIS MALADE, CARUSO and in classical with Igor Krutoy MADEMOISELLE HYDE SOCHI 2016 for which she wrote the lyrics. She also wrote the lyrics for YOUR LOVE by Dimash. If you look at Dimash's style you can see the great influence that Lara Fabian has had on Dimash. Lara Fabian is Dimash's idol and to convince yourself of the similarity between them, listen to PERDERE L'AMORE FROM LARA WITH LOVE and you will understand. Thank you from Montreal.

Hello there! Nice reaction! I'm a lifelong Lara Fan (since 1994) and a lifelong Johnny Fan (since 1998). By sheer luck I was one of the 80 000 fans who attended this concert in a pouring rain. This was the night that made me a lifelong Johnny Hallyday Fan. Yeah, Johnny needs only one name. In the francophone world Johnny Hallyday was a living legend. I could rave for days about his 57 years long career and all that he achieved as a singer, song writer and actor, but I'll just leave you a few lines lines below to give you an inkling how much he truly meant for France and for us, his millions of fans world wide. He had sold out concerts for decades since 1967 in huge arenas like the Parc De Princes, Bercy and most major venues in Europe. In his later years he did shows in Las Vegas and New York too, but Johnny performed his biggest live concert in 2000 at the age of 57 at the base of the Eiffel Tower in front a million fans and 10 million watching it on TV. In November of 2009 he underwent surgery, but due to complications, he had to be put in a medically induced coma that lasted for days and all of France and millions of fans around the world (myself included) held their breath and prayed for his life. Nine years later on December 5th at 10.10pm Johnny passed away of lung cancer at the of 74. The next morning in front of the cameras French president, Emmanuel Macron paid tribute to Johnny, saying "He transcended generations and is etched in the memory of the French people". Four days later, on the morning of December 9th, Paris was brought to a stand-still in deep mourning. Close to a million people lined up the Champs-Elysees to say goodbye to him, watching his hearse rolling down the empty lanes of one of the most iconic boulevard in the world. Three French presidents attended his funeral including Emmanuel Macron. Millions watched Johnny's funeral all around Europe. Johnny was a true icon.

@@danielakeller7532 Oh, I hear you! It's almost impossible to buy a ticket for her European concerts, because they sell out in a blink of an eye. It's a tiny bit easier in Canada, especially in Quebec, Montreal and Toronto. Here in the US, you might get lucky since she is not as well known here, although thanks to all the Dimash Dears that probably changed dramatically, so getting a ticket nowadays would be just as hard as for the European venues.. The last time I saw Lara, it was here in NYC, 6 years ago @ The BARCLAY Center. I had no ticket, but my friend's friend worked there and let me sneak in.

Oh my God ! Who are these singers ?? Never seen before ! . . . They are the best duet of the Universe ! :-) As you can read it on Wikipedia , "Requiem pour un Fou" is a dramatic song. The guy has killed his wife ( or girlfriend ) « Je l'ai tuée ». He is in the crime house. Outside , the police is there , with guns and lights. The night will be bloody again. No doubt. He was madly in love with her. The woman wanted to leave him. The guy was mad. And he know it now. « Je n'étais qu'un fou » « un fou , un fou d'amour ».

hello, Johny Hallyday is dead now, and was a show master in France, rocky voice well known, and you add to him Lara Fabian with no autotunes, just real singing, real singing, the magic of a real voice, a great singer with singing techniques mastered to perfection I have few things to say about this video. Some people can think the gestures are exaggerated. You have to put in context. This is a live concert in a stadium with 90 000 peoples, in a rainy day. You have to do this, so anyone can get the message.

Lara is the best female french singer. but Johnny Hallyday is the biggest star France ever had. His nickname is Le Taulier, (meanning not only the boss but the one that keeps the kees of the home France) . Every body respected him. He asked her to come and sing to his concert at Stade de France in Paris, which is a big honor but gave her a lot of pressure, and she explained later that she was so stressed that she clanged to him to feel secure. He has such a voice that he could get over her but he has each time the courtesy to put in evidence his partner by lowering his voice. He said later that Lara was him, as a girl, what Lara received as an honor. He had been a super star since he was a teenager. He was the one that brought rock'n roll and blues to France, giving infinite numbers of concerts, with thousands of fans following him from one to another. His fans were present in the stadium that night, and It was raining, but Johnny would sing even if it's rainning, not to disappoint the fans, what he called rock'n roll attitude. He had a very tormented life: Abandoned by his father, he had lot's of wives, lot's of children, alcohol, drugs... At his funerals, they where millions of fans, hundreds of harley bikers, three president's of France and lots of french artists. He was very loved and respected. The song, very extreme, tells the story of a couple that love each other so much that he had to kill her, so they could die together! Like an apocalyptic love. Johnny was admired by his musicians and all the singers singing a duo with him, that all said how much they where impressed. His imaginary country was America, and he has been adopted by the french that forgave him all his excentricities. The anglo-saxon press called him the french Elvis. The only thing is he decided to be buried in Saint Barthélemy Island he loved in the french caribeans, far from his fans.

Johnny Hallyday was the man who gave The Jimi Hendrix Experience their first opportunity to go on tour, they made their first show in Évreux (Normandy) on the 13th of October 1966 as an opening act to a Johnny's concert. Ginger's comparison with Prince is really spot-on, Johnny always used to let the light shine on his guest when he was performing, just like Prince did many times with Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan or Sheryl Crow to name a few.

The French are very demonstrative as you can tell. I don't know how close Johnny and Lara were, but they worked together quite often. Lara was very young then, in her early 20s and being a Soprano, her voice was strong in her upper range, I would say she had four octaves. Sadly, Johnny Hallyday is no longer with us. His funeral procession was attended by at least 1million people, as PACS/CDS said below. Attended by almost every politician of note in France. I'm sure Lara was there too, brought by limousine and wearing black.
