The US have so many truly incredible players. You can feel it's a deep rooted culture of country and blues-rock! Johnny Hiland is such a monster player, I don't know if people understand how hard it is to play like that with such ease... anyway all the musicians here are top of the game! Greetings from France!

I am an old-school Rock guitarist. I got my chop's studying Ritchie Blackmore ,Eddie Van Halen .. Jimmy Page...etc. ... never a fan of country although I did like some rockabilly... I have to say I get so much pleasure and excitement watching Johnny Hiland Jam. he is just as talented and intuitive as any guitar player I have ever admired. He has inspired me to step outside of my box and try something different. I fail miserably most of the time but the journey certainly is fun

I would NOT hit the down thumb for this performance but I would not buy the record. I try to play guitar but if I practice for 137 years every day, there is not even a slim chance that I would share a stage with these guys. They're virtuoso's of course. But their rapid fire style of playing is a huge quantity of racket. They're practically shredding through their songs. More racket than music. That said, if I had the ability to play a guitar like them, I'd do so with a heart full of thanks for the gift I was born with. But I would look into making less racket and more music.

Let me tell you a story about these guys... I run the Everyone Loves Guitar Podcast. I've interviewed both Johnny Hiland and Mike Durham (guitarist on the far right). And I'm hoping to get Brent on my show, as well. Both of these guys are not only fantastic players, but they are very sweet, kind solid people. We all know how talented Johnny and Brent are. And although you didn't get to hear Mike Durham play very much... let me tell you what happened when he and I spoke. We got along real well and so after our interview, he and I wound up chatting for an hour or so. While we're talking (over Skype), Mike picks up his guitar and starts noodling around. I tell you, my jaw nearly hit the ground. This guy is an AMAZING player and can give both Brent and Johnny, a good run for their money. It's no wonder why he is a First Call A-List session player in Nashville - who's always booked up. Thanks for putting this video up, great stuff!

This is a great video! Funny enough, I’ve known about Brent and Johnny for a while, but the main guy, that I’ve been listening to who’s been getting me into more chicken picking, is Greg Koch. Recently saw him and he just blew my mind how he could switch styles so effortlessly. I mainly grew up with the shred guys in the 80s, such as Randy Rhodes and Edward Van Halen. But this video is an immense joy to watch. It’s a what guitar playing should be: Totally fun!! And by the way, Mike Durham is no slouch either, here in this video. Great video!!

Wow! Did you see Brent go behind the nut and give that harmonic note some vibrato at 2:56?!? That was perfection buddy! That's about right. VERY good, but not something to write home about. How many came back to watch it again? Not me. People can be TOO enthusiastic about music in comments. Anyone else not get it about the non-stop "Billy Strings" bombardment on the internet? Not impressed with the tattoos that need to be shown all the time, every shirt is selected to say, "By the way? Have you seen my unique tattoos lately? I'm SO cool! I'd prefer to listen to every single artist featured on Bresh digital TV before listening to the kids try to sound 50 years older. Even Molly Tuttle, who is SUCH a burner doesn't have the soul that I love with the older, fatter, less pretty to look at players. How approachable can the "good bye girls" be, anyway? I thought you were supposed to say "Hello"?
@balladeer454 жыл бұрын
@@darrendix5163 You seem to be trying to compare apples to oranges. Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle are great at their craft and shouldn't be compared to electric chicken pickin' players like these. Is there a need to slam one art form in order for you to have gratification? I bet Molly does things on acoustic that Brent or Johnny couldn't do. I can't out-pick any of them so I just enjoy all of it. Tommy Emmanuel digs Billy Strings so I'll go with his opinion. Just sayin'
