johnny huynh inspired, I was in the kitchen as a young kid since 5 years old while my dad was cooking. I'm 34 now. Always wanted to open my own restaurants with southeast flavors and my own flair. Never had the guts to go as far as you. What you said about only hiring. People with no experience, down on their luck, means a lot! That's deep! One these days I'll stop on in and say hi!

Mark Le, is referring to the US involvement in the South East Asian countries out of fear of the "domino effect" of communist growth, "containment", that led to the Vietnam and Cambodia conflicts. This conflict was strongly prosecuted under a Democratic administration (Kennedy) however it was radically intensified by Johnson toward 68 and that intensity sustained by Nixon up to the point that the US people had enough. Le Xuan Tung, responds sarcastically with his comment but he's making reference to the modern antipathy between conservatives and progressives in US national politcs...oblivious or uncaring to the historical reference of Le. Mark Le responds with a question indicating his confusion at Le Xuan's comment ...itself one made from apparent ignorance of what Mark was originally referring to....and... LAUGHTER ENSUES!

YO JOHNNY!!! i used to work right next to this dude at the central park summerstage, i think the owners of bossa nova worked with us too. shit was lit. this dude is crazy, one time he bought like 1000 coconuts to sell at this event and it was kind of a bust but dude made it work. one of the coolest people i've ever met, support this man's business and family.

he's just a cool ass dude, when he said in the video that he hires people without direction to try to help them that shit is true. he would always have people who were down on their luck or struggling working for him, trying to give them a shot to get their lives together and make a living. really just a solid dude. we used to shoot dice before the shows at summerstage in the pizza dough trays and we had to stop cause homeboy likes to gaamble too much haha, he's alright though! so happy to see that he got a brick and mortar spot.

Nothing but utter respect for him and his beautiful grandmother. She came as a poor refugee and with no hesitation did what she had to do to raise her grandson. His life would be something totally different if she had never come. You can feel the love they share. Every bit of hard work she did paid off, he is now a respectable, wise and humble gentleman. This was a truly inspiring and beautiful story. One of the best by Vice so far.

Wow this related to my life in so many ways. From being raised in the hood (mine being Oakland, CA) to hustling, and even everything about your parents leaving. I was 6 when my parents separated and left me with my grandmother. I can even relate to having to grow up early because of our circumstances in a broken house hold. But even through it all we're still alive and here to share our craft to the rest of the world. Thank you for sharing your story with us Johnny. I really hope to meet you someday.

This is very true for most good kids in Brooklyn. You want to be good until you get put in a position where you are weak or powerless. If you make it through that situation alive, you decide to become a wolf. And then you go down the dark path. You became a wolf out of necessity but you are still a great person at heart. I’m glad he found his strength and I’m glad he found his purpose

I hope you know you're an inspirational individual. Not having a father or mother figure but grandmother who raised you and who spoiled you with food. The basic necessity that you now own and serve in your community. I'm happy for you, Brother.

Man ! The whole table idea is awesome. I think that nowadays people don’t interact as much as they should with one another. This is truly awesome ! Blessing for you and your family. Keep it pushin’.

This is one of the most wise dudes on the planet right here.. anyone that's willing to help people like that and he's not even really helping them he's helping them help themselves grow and become a regular adult and find their way in life. I need to move to Brooklyn to work here with this dude.
